Pleasing Performance - Pulis Posted on: Sun 16 Dec 2007
City boss Tony Pulis couldn't hide his pleasure following the 3-2 win over Blackpool on Saturday afternoon.
The victory lifts the Potters upto fourth in the Coca-Cola Championship and extends the club's unbeaten run to six games.
"It's a great three points for us," Pulis told Stoke City World.
"I thought first half we played really, really well and I was pleased with the performance. Article continues Advertisement
"In the second half, I thought after we got the third goal we just dropped off a little bit.
"Maybe we were a little bit protective, too protective, but we were always a threat."
The Potters came from behind to go 3-1 up at one stage but Pulis felt Blackpool's early opener shouldn't have stood.
Michael Flynn unleashed a venomous strike from just outside the box after thirteen minutes, but there was a claim for a foul on Eustace before the ball dropped for the Blackpool midfielder to fire home through a crowd of players.
"We were disappointed with their first goal; we thought it was a free-kick.
"One of their lads leant into John Eustace before the strike but the referee never gave it and the kid smashes it in."
Pulis also revealed that he singled out Leon Cort and Ricardo Fuller in the pre-match meeting on Friday for not getting more goals, and was delighted when both players added their names to the score sheet.
"I had a little go at Leon because when he attacks the ball in the box he's a very dangerous player.
"Strikers have got to score more goals too and Ric promised me that he'd score today.
"I thought he was fantastic. He got two great goals, and we had another nice goal from Leon as well.
"He's streaky is Ric, but let's hope he continues to score now because we'll need him as he's a special player for us."
When asked what he'd do if he was told at the start of the season that the club would be fourth in the table at this stage, and only four points off the top, the City manager responded with:
"I'd have been doing somersaults!
"And you've got to give credit to the lads, there's a great spirit and the dressing room is very good.
"We're pleased as it's a difficult place to come to and for us to get three points makes it a great result.
"We've scored three goals away from home again, come from behind again and we're pushing on."

So out of our two main strikers we think Ricky is the one who needs singling out for not scoring?

He certainly makes a contribution to the team but his lack of goals is still a sticking point.
