Children will able to watch selected FA Cup third round matches for only £1 as part of the Football Association's newly announced 'One FA Cup' promotion. Adults buying full-price tickets for the games at Blackburn, Sunderland, Plymouth, Huddersfield, Bolton and Wolves can take a child along for £1.
"The third round of the FA Cup has a unique place in the calendar," said FA chief executive Brian Barwick.
"We want to give families the chance to experience the magic of the Cup live."
The FA is funding the initiative, which covers both home and away fans, and has chosen a geographical spread of matches that also feature sides from various levels.
The third round of the tournament takes place on the weekend of 5-6 January, with 64 teams competing.
The games selected are Blackburn v Coventry, Plymouth v Hull, Bolton v Sheffield United, Sunderland v Wigan, Huddersfield v Birmingham and Wolves v Cambridge

and how was this "selection" made...would only be fair to give everyone this opportunity...they should have a draw at the same time as the round draws for the quid matches...

Oooooooooo, do I not like this!
This is where football would like to be ... A sport where parents take their kids for "a day out".
The games were chosen "geographically", so there is "a game near you".
Doesn't matter who you support - Indeed, you support no one if you are a target for this "offer".
What they SHOULD have done - were the game trying to stick to its traditional values - would be to provide X-hundred "£1 kids tickets" at each of the cup ties (half for the home team and half away).
But ooooooooooooo no ...
You could argue that this will encourage a few families to start attending regularly ... You could also argue anyone from Stoke attending the Wolves tie would - if they were encouraged to attend more football - attend their more local club (Stoke). Mind, you can argue Keith Scott was a footballer ...
(As we all know ... what will happen is supporters who already go, will take a kid with them for £1)

Well I think it is a great idea. If I was 50 years younger I'd be pestering daddy to take me to the Blackburn v Coventry game instead of spending my inheritance on expensive tickets in the Boothen End. ;D

they will have chosen the games with potential for big crowds but that are not very glamorous looking.

Marvellous.
I have had to put up with this sort of thing all my life, the first year they stopped higher rate tax relief on mortgages was the first time I paid higher rate tax.
Now they start this in the year that my son is 18.
I bet the year the Seniors concession stops in the year when/if I make to 65.

Wembley, Get your lad to wear short trousers and grease his hair back and carry a satchel. He might then pass as a youngster? ;D
This isn't really a ground breaking idea is it as most clubs have tried it at one time or another. In my opinion our club should be letting under 12's in for a quid every match. It probably would'nt make a big difference on the turnover but would help with future support.
