Well deserved etc.
But, without sounding ageist, i thought he did a good job in his speech accepting the award last night - very composed.
I must admit, i thought he had lost a lot more marbles than that.
(I'm 97 by the way.)

rsb, He really comes into his own in the "senile old fucker" department when he has to remember people. In that respect he was let off easy. I would however echo whole-heartedly your comments. Few people have given more to their sport than he. Even if for the last 15 years he's not been entirely sure where he is I'd give you some Karma, but i haven't got any.

The best moment of the night for me....and well deserved too. One of the few people in nogger who I have any time for. He reminds me of me in many ways. It's not easy getting old and remembering who you are. OS.

I have a great respect for Bobby Robson and he certainly deserved the award.

Thing is though its noy just senility. He could never remember anyones name when he was much younger. When he managed England they were waiting in an airport lounge and he was furious because Peter Reid had gone missing. In his rage he stormed around the airport looking for him. One of the other players realised what was happening and dashed around to find him to explainthat ......Peter Reid wasn't in the squad!!! ;D
