International week nearly over 😃 Just thinking of the next 3 games coming up and 2 off those teams had plastic pitches without looking probably in 80s/90s and was thinking how were they allowed to do this as it was a clear advantage to the home team. Couldn’t see this being allowed now.
Were there anymore plastic pitches other than QPR and Luton

Overseas plastic pitches are used at . . . . . Amsterdam ArenaA in Netherlands Boras Arena in Sweden State de Suisse home of Young Boys in Switzerland Luzhniki Stadium home of FC Spartak in Russia plus quite a few in Scandinavia presumably because of the winter climate.

Vale park. They put so much shit on it every other week they needed a combine harvester to cut it.

Would be interesting to see the home form of those clubs Assuming Ajax would be good at home anyway

Think we only once on plastic,at PNE? Tony Ellis scored🔴⚪️ He was better away He stylishly bent the ball wide of the goal at The (real) Boothen End seemingly at will

Didn’t we lose 6-0 at QPR on their plastic pitch mid ‘80’s?

Oldham Athletic were a tremendous side under Joe Royle back in the day with their plastic pitch. We were pretty hopeless on it and routinely took a pasting there.

Think we only once on plastic,at PNE? 92/93 promotion season under Macari. Won 2-1 I think with goals from Lee Sandford and John Butler.

In Norway astro turf is a big problem in my opinion! We don't create good enough central defenders any more because they don't learn to tackle when they are young due to the surface of the pitch! Maybe the one thing keeping Norway away from the big tournaments in my opinion!

I remember Robbie James (RIP) boldly declaring the plastic pitch at QPR would suit his smooth passing style just before we got absolutely rinsed 6-0 at QPR!!!

I was just thinking that there's no need for plastic pitches now because modern methods and how they construct pitches means that games are never impacted by the poor state of the pitch.

Was at Oldham when we came back from 2 down to draw. Think Simon Stainrod and Chris Kamara scored. Without looking it up Roger Palmer probably scored for them because when we played Oldham he always did!

Wasn’t the 4-3 win at Preston with the last minute Dean Crowe winner on the plastic pitch? Equally was the 4-3 defeat under Cotterill on the same plastic pitch?Thats the day I still can’t think about without feeling anger after we equalised in injury time(Cooke I think) only for Cresswell to go up the other end and get their winner😡

No, I don't think so, but they don't tackle any more! The reason why is that astro turf surfaces rarely are watered enough before young kids play so if they tackle they will get hurt because of the friction. Because of this we have stopped creating enough top central defenders like Ronny Johnsen and Henning Berg in my opinion. Now we only have central defenders like Østigård, and as you all know he isn't much of a footballer!

Couldn’t see this being allowed now. Were there anymore plastic pitches other than QPR and Luton I played on the QPR pitch the year before it got replaced. Right in front of the dug outs on the half way lane there was a gap you could put your thumb in and was about a 1m in length. Scored a corker at the QPR home end. It was a works friendly 😂😂😂

The Tele arena in Stockholm I think is 'artificial turf'-but I'm not sure if it's plastic or not. I remember Terry Venables writing a book called 'They used to play on grass'.

Luton got relegated as soon as they got rid of theirs. Which says something.
