Bit of a hit piece, taking aim and at some big corporations over their environmental impact. Apple and Amazon take a pasting and are probably the worst offenders. There are potential health concerns due to the number of micro plastics we are consuming. Absolutely destroying our kids planet with not a fuck given.
Worth a watch.

Outrageous amount of waste. Something as small as opening up a fish from the ocean and finding that it's ingested plastic is shocking. We're killing everything and the few people that could start to change consumerism really don't give a shit.
The TV you've dumped at the recycling centre (which still works) ends up travelling thousands of miles and some poor kids poison themselves extracting tiny components worth saving.
What a shitshow.

We're killing everything and the few people that could start to change consumerism really don't give a shit. The TV you've dumped at the recycling centre (which still works) ends up travelling thousands of miles and some poor kids poison themselves extracting tiny components worth saving. What a shitshow. Look at this thread. Nobody really gives a shit. There's a few of us, who get it... But there's literally millions who just don't care and we're massively outnumbered. A huge amount of people are now in the mindset of iPhone every 2-3 years that ends up in landfill, 500 quids worth of cheap clothes every 6 months to end up washing up in the Dominican Republic. New car every 3 years. Just fuck the planet. Our kids can deal with that shit. It's definitely the commercialism where the issue lies though. New products are forced upon kids and teenagers and I think there's probably an entire generation brainwashed into this disposable way of living. Absolutely fucking mental. The idea is to basically have a constant stream of products coming in and out so that you're feeding their bank accounts and don't worry about what happens after, we can export that rubbish to third world countries and destroy their land.

it's not the shops that course this though, it's us. If the demand wasn't there, neither would some of the plastic be. Buy less stuff and live a more simple life. problem solved !

I personally think you need to watch the doc before jumping to conclusions. People have a part to play yes but the documentary exposes some utterly horrific tactics used by huge corporations to maximise profits and fuck everyone else. Couple of my favourites were destroying perfectly good old stock to ensure they aren't sold for less than the retail price and having staff pour shampoo and cleaning products into bins to ensure homeless people can't use them anymore. They didn't want to be known as the "the brand that homeless people use". When the women on the TV said that, I genuinely hurt inside for humanity. Imagine you're a homeless person and you'd found a few bottles of shampoo and the next time you turn up, they're pouring them because they don't think you're human enough to deserve it? What fucking planet do we live on where that shit can be deemed acceptable? One where evolution is going backwards. That was Unilever btw ... Oh that applies to food as well. Staff putting good food in the bin, followed by hot coffee so no hungry homeless animal outside could get a bite. Lovely. There are several other angles that it targeted such as sports washing etc and the various recycling programmes that are a sham. Recycle plastic like an absolute hero? Yeah good luck, 90% of it ends up in landfill or we ship it to some third world country where it ends up propping up the coast line. "Trade your clothes in for a discount on your next purchase and we'll donate them to starving kids in Africa" - yeah.... We're shipping 15 million garments a week to countries with a population of less then 30 million. They don't need any more clothes and lack the necessary infrastructure to distribute such large quantities anyway. So most of it ends up on the beaches or in the sea. But yes, there's a huge part on us. We have to break the cycle of rampant consumerism. We all know that the new iPhone is only going to marginally better than the previous one. If you own a phone that's barely 2 years old then it's simply not necessary to upgrade yet. Trade in and 'recycle' your phone for feelz and a discount (of course) and keep smiling with your shiny new tech while kids in third world countries are dying thanks to the illegal disposal. Break that cycle and the big firms will have to change. Alternatively, we can all be happy with the status quo and apologise to our kids deathbed because trust me, we all will.

Pay once for something of better quality and make it last longer or buy second hand/part used. We are being dictated to by the marketing people. Don’t fall for it, you’ll be happier, wealthier and the planet will thank you - although the corporates won’t, but stuff them.

And not very often mentioned large corps are actually destroying the concept of capitalism with their greedy monopoly on society. Monopoly is a super fun game until one player owns everything and the rest are scared to move. Still we have 2 political parties to vote for and argue over to make it all better
