A thread dedicated to the Non League side of football.
I see a couple of posters are planning to go to games on the match day thread - also bits on the FA Cup.
I am about to set off have a nice pint and enjoy the Clitheroe v Nantwich possibly ex Stoke Shueys assistant Mark Hughes playing.

Clitheroe 1-1 Nantwich Att 1,009
Nantwich lead 1-0 at HT after an even half. Played well for 25 mins at the start of the second but then sat back to concede from a corner in 73rd min. Draw was fair.
Ali Hayder ex stoke youth came on for Nantwich for last 10 mins.

I believe they sold 600+ ST and i went in an earlier Int break and 1100 that day. They usually have around 800-850 on a Saturday. Today i knew several Burnley and Blackburn fans just taking in a game and a pint plus 30+ from Nantwich.

As per the other thread Ashton 1 Leek Town 0.
Fairly poor offering and I’m sorry to say Leek looked like a team heading for the drop, still early days though so hopefully they can turn it around.
360 in attendance with maybe a dozen Leek fans (the ones that were obvious anyway? Proper old school ground though, worth a visit…..

I have seen him a few times plays on the right on his day a joy to watch and can score goals out of nothing, today a quiet game played behind a big forward and having to guess where flicks on instead of his talents play into his feet or a space behind the full back.

Shenton has had 1 good game all season, Porter flatters to deceive, Curl is a decent defender but I am not sure where his best position is and Leek will most definitely be relegated! Just not enough fire power unfortunately! I am not sure how long the manager has got but fingers crossed it's not too long! Too many games with square pegs in round holes and far too many excuses...these are his players and to be quite frank it's been very very poor all season and that's me being VERY polite!

Today I watched Wythenshawe Amateurs v Mossley, Northern Prem Div1 - North West. Finished 2-1 to Mossley, a mate I went with, one of his son’s plays for Wythenshawe. It was £10 to get in but only £5 if you could show a current EFL season card…….happy days, nice clubhouse and a decent pint too.

Is the step up too big? I know Leek lost a couple of players and the League they are now in is a lot more physical.

It’ll get addictive 😁 Since Covid I've done loads of different non-league grounds and I love it, if ever I stopped watching Stoke it's what I would do weekly. When the kids are a bit older I'm looking forward to a bit of ground hopping in Scotland, and the likes of Belgium/Holland/Germany.....

It's a bit of both mate, they lost something like 70 goals from 4 players who left which didn't help at all and they haven't been replaced in any way shape or form! And the teams that have been promoted are all doing much better than Leek (some having gone through similar changes)but I would say it's more to management style and recruitment!

Can’t make QPR on Saturday so I think I’ll take in the West Didsbury v Ramsbottom game….. Bad week for West. Lost to Colne today who’ve barely mustered a win all season. Went to watch them away at Irlam midweek. Lost 3-2. Irlam have a lad up top who’s bagged 17 already, he got 30 before Xmas last year then went to Bury but came back to Irlam. Nickname…..Irlam Haaland.

I went to Plainmoor for Torquay United v Truro City in a West Country derby FA Trophy 2nd Round tie.
TUFC 1 - TCFC 0 is how it finished with a fine Dan Hayfield Free Kick clinching it in the 2nd half.
Almost 2,000 in attendance with Truro bringing 100 with them.
Due to Torquay manager Paul Wotton being given a very late touchline suspension for today's match Neil Warnock took his place in the dugout at Torquay for the first time in 31 years!
Stoke Loanee Rakealan Jeffers started for the Gulls but was hooked during the 2nd half as wasn't really impacting the game much.

When the kids are a bit older I'm looking forward to a bit of ground hopping in Scotland, and the likes of Belgium/Holland/Germany..... At the risk of getting shouted at, I could stop Stoke and do hopping forever. There’s always something interesting nearby, always somewhere to revisit, and always a great long trip to enjoy. Scotland in particular is somewhere I love to go, the football is poorer but it’s just a better day out.

How many are leek getting on the gate now? Have they maintained similar from last season ? This season the crowds are on the decline from last season and are really struggling to get above 500! But last season there were lots of local teams to face whereas this season most teams are a good distance away!

Can’t make QPR on Saturday so I think I’ll take in the West Didsbury v Ramsbottom game….. Best pies I've had at a football ground at West. Nice little club but take a brolly. We went to Prescot Cables v Hyde. Good end to end 1-1. Cables should have had a pen at the end but the referee bottled it
