I think I was in the Stoke End seats for that one. I can remember a few bananas being set alight in the paddock 😃

The away day to Brighton was epic
Cannot remember the name of the shop in Hanley (not Fantasy World, but a card/gift shop by Greenwoods) but it must have done a roaring trade in anything that day. Champagne bottle, Paddling pool, large cigarette (which would be banned nowadays) on show

It was in the parade where TK max is now. Yeah that's the one. Used to love a browse round there 👍 I'd forgotten it was called fantasy world. You conjured a memory I'd long since forgotten 👍

You conjured a memory I'd long since forgotten 👍 I used to get all my second hand Mega Drive and Playstation games from there. Was the best place for game trading in the pre-internet days. Whilst talking about lost shops from that era, here's a nod to Stolen From Ivor and Geordie Jeans that were opposite each other in that covered underpass near Greenwoods.

I used to buy jeans from stolen from ivor and remove their logos and put a designer one on when I was a young buck back in the day. Thought I'd score more birds but mostly had the piss taken out of me instead. Ah the good ole 80s and 90s, getting blown out more times than a windsock on the Isle of Skye 🤣

Thought I was well cool wearing those in the mid-late 90s going to nappy night at Valentino's . Eclipse jeans, another memory from that era.

Can't remember the name of the shop though.

And blow me for crimbo....probably 1989 my missus' mum bought it for me as a complete surprise. It wasn't cheap either. I was amazed. Cant remember the name of the shop either 🤦♂️😁 But I've at least remembered fantasy world 😉 Someone will probably remember on here soon...

Disappointing the article didn't mention the Pink Panthers though .There were no pink panthers at the boxing day match we only caught on after that match , plenty in the return at Maine Rd I know - it was the bananas at that game that inspired the Club Shop manager (Paul Gerkin?) , to seek out something Stoke could use - the Panthers. I meant the earlier paragraph where the author lists other clubs that adopted inflatables. It's a well researched article - just surprised he didn't know about Stoke's Pink Panthers.

I also hated the Pink Panthers, especially as they had nothing to do with Stoke. And yes, I did have one.
Bizarre was a fantastic shop - brilliant cards (including the amazing Far Side ones); little presents; curious; cool stuff....a fantastic shop.

Thanks for sharing. I was looking left and thought I was in stoke end paddock with man city down the whole butler st side. Dave Bamber was a beast that game, like a Giraffe version of Pele.

Didn't Man City have the whole Stoke End seats and terrace and the whole of the butler Street too? Can't remember Stokies being in the Stoke End seats, and if they brought 12K then they must have had the seats.

Everyone got bumped for that game, over to the main stand opposite. The whole Stoke End was Citeh - I'm pretty sure.

Did anyone else go to games with a fluffy pink panther because their well-meaning grandmother was worried an inflatable one might burst? I suspect it was just me.

My Pink Panther is about somewhere at my sister's house. Well, she might of chucked it as I left a lot of crap there after I moved away. It certainly was a crazy phase, but as a kid at the time I loved it.
