Crowd “shoooooot” Me “don’t fucking sho……goooooooooooooooaaaaaaaalllllllll” Brilliant goal. He had another excellent long ranger hit the bar v Portsmouth (set the tone that night) but otherwise not seen even a hint of a shot from distance from him If he's got it in his locker let's see more if it Guess it's more likely when he plays fullback

I remember Geoff Scott getting one from miles out back in the very late 70s. Can’t remember who it was against. Blackburn home in a 4-2 win, March 1978, Scott scored from near the touchline. Geoff Scott sadly died in 2018, must only have been 62 or so, RIP.

I recall a documentary from a few years ago on some topic where the police turned up at Geoffs house with questions about some issue. I recall thinking "bloody hell that's Geoff Scott that played for Stoke". He suddenly became ill and they had to call an ambulance

Mehdi Leris against Bristol City? A God awful player who managed that with his swinger, somehow.

Whilst Imbula had all the quality in the world he was poor for us overall, but that strike away at Bournemouth made me think we had singed the second coming of Zidane

Out of all the players mentioned, I'd class 3 maybe 4 at most as poor.

I remember a lot of people being excited when we signed Jerome I think he was hard done by at Stoke and never got a decent run in the side. If he played consistently in the Pulis side in particular I think he could have got 10 goals over the course of a season. He wasn't dissimilar to Diouf, probably quicker but less intelligent than Diouf.

Frode Kippe scored a screamer against PNE. He was shit My memory might be failing me because I would've been about 10 at the time but I always thought Frode Kippe was alright. I've got it in my head that he was better during his first loan spell but was still fine during his second spell.

By the time we got him we'd established ourselves and started to move beyond players of his ability which is why he didn't play that many games and didn't stand out. I think if he'd played for us in our first season after promotion he'd have had a much more important role to play and probably be remembered more fondly. And after we got relegated he was exactly the sort of player we needed to sign but failed to. I definitely wouldn't have him down as an example of a poor Stoke player.

The main reason for signing Jerome was to stop him scoring against us One calendar year he was joint top scorer at the Brit when he wasn't even our player!
yeah not a poor player just not quite a prem striker

I know this is not a poor player. Hoekstra's second vs reading. One minute into this video He was on another level that day and Reading had no answer. The one bit of skill missing from the clip is where Peter feigns to trap the ball and instead heads it past rhe defender. The defender's wretched reaction summed up Reading that day.

Second was a night game away at Chesterfield where he absolutely took the piss all night. Think he got subbed late on and even their fans were clapping him.

He had a modest career but Oussama Assaidi will be able to tell his grandkids he once scored a fucking pearler of an injury-time winner against Jose Mourinho's Chelsea in the Premier League
