It gets worse every time I see it, The linesman is looking straight at it!
You win some & you loose some but the standard of officiating in this league is really poor.

The ref was he was looking through a sea of bodies so if he'd been sniffing glue and had forgotten his glasses you could excuse his stupidity for thinking maybe Burger was just off balance and fell over. But the linesman had a clear line of sight and was looking at it side on, no excuses, really awful.

Is that the worst Linesman to ever officiate at Stoke City?
Like asking a reluctant Dad to run the line at an under 12’s but less competent?

Our manager said he received an apology, from the ref, after the game - but apparently it is his 3rd one since being here - they have it in for us I tell you Let's hope it balances out

That doesn’t even out.

He can only apologise and say he did not see it. What is the alternative? No in my opinion it was not.
Sorry a load of rubbish. He could not have not seen it, everybody else in the ground did.
HE CHICKEND OUT and did not have the courage to make an important decision.

As i have said on another thread - Gill Singh has been ass Ref for years and has ran that line many times is sadly never been very good - its like the person at work that makes mistakes regularly but you cannot get rid of. I cannot remember seeing him run the line in front of the Franklyn stand - but today the fans behind him seem to give him an easy time.

Got the offsides correct and most of the basic things right. Just missed that penalty. Which was very poor but that’s the pair of them.

So, if the ref admitted he got that wrong, any chance of the yellow for complaining being rescinded…..I bet not.

The point they'd make is that he got booked because of his behaviour. His behaviour is not excused by the decision made (not my view, but will be theirs).
Otherwise you'd have a situation where dissent was okay if it is linked to a demonstrably bad decision.
We all know there are shit decisions made in most games, so in those instances players would be allowed to kick off at will.
(For the avoidance of doubt I'm surprised Burger wasn't more enraged by that shocking decision)

Last week we had two of our players committing calamitous mistakes to gift Derby their equaliser, this week we have two of the officials committing calamitous mistakes to deny us a penalty and a man advantage for half an hour.
Why do we get more angry about the second of these incidents than the first? Why do we hold match officials who are paid a fraction of what players get to a higher standard than the players?

BM Because we won last week, so it didn’t matter, the refs decision yesterday probably cost us 2 points.

The ref was a pathetic excuse all game allowing pushes in the back from both sides. On the penalty & red card he probably saw the size of Cooper and thought better not see it.

Would he have got sent off even if he did give the penalty? My thoughts are that if he had given it and it remained 11 v 11, it would have finished 1-1 regardless. They would have played the same way as they did whenever we equalised and, despite being much the better side, we didn’t create much of note after we did score.

Yes if the penalty is given it has to be a red as it was obviously a clear goal scoring opportunity. It may not have changed the result as they would have defended in depth but we wouldn't have Burger out for the QPR game and their centre back would have got a ban.
