I served 24 years and don’t need to be told when to remember the shit that happened, it’s never far away, the good outweighs the bad but the bad is vividly remembered.
This ritual year on year has become devalued with (I agree with Bayern!) people trying to out do each other with displays of proper remembering, and it gets hijacked by sycophants who create further division in a breaking society, telling people what to think/do/act, or whipping up a delusion that ‘they’re taking it from us’ etc….
I wish we’d keep it to the Sunday and Armistice day and leave it out of our hobbies/pastimes. I respect that people want to pay their respects but before a football match has never felt right to me, that’s not to say I would have turned down free tickets if I was ever offered them.

I remember better than you do. It really is getting pathetic. Which is a massive shame. It all used so understated and nice. Now it’s like a fucking circus every year. No one will disrespect it on purpose. I never said they disrespect it on purpose. I don’t think anybody does but it doesn’t take much to just do as instructed does it. Considering the same thing happens EVERY FUCKING YEAR. It’s like people being surprised when there’s international breaks, despite them being the same weekends every year😂. Are people that thick or that ignorant that they can’t remember something that happens year on year 🤷♂️ Some people have bad memories

Yeah, you may served 24 years but have you ever spent over £2,000 of your own money on elaborate costume prosthetics to prove a point? I think we both know whose actions are weighted with the most reverence for military personnel.

It feels like a circus now. It used to be so special and poignant but every year more gets added that kind of makes it like something like Christmas and Easter and I just don’t like that. Where I grew up when I was younger there was nothing about it. Then they put one silhouette of a Tommy and I thought, ah ok the unknown solider on his own, quite poignant. I like that. Now there must be about 20 within a square mile, flags, massive poppies and it’s just gaudy. And for me devalues the whole thing. And I find that tremendously sad. It’s just people trying to out do each other which imo is massively disrespectful. But if it makes them happy then so be it but don’t get angry with me for thinking it almost mocks the whole point around Armistace Sunday.

I’ll give you a clue ably what I’ll be thinking about today, just to appease the remembrance committee.
I work in a place that is somewhere where pro Palestinian views are held.
I work in an area where people are open about it and Theres Palestinian flags every where.
My work lanyard has a Chinook, Eurofoghter Typhoon and a Vulcan Bomber pin badge on it because I’m a plane nerd that particularly loves anything to do with war. All bought from the RAF in Longton Park on armed forces day.
You need to become a better judge of character quite frankly.

I think we both know whose actions are weighted with the most reverence for military personnel. I was just going to sit in the boozer wearing really tight fitting old uniform (gravy stained), and a hideously shaped beret which would make the French blush, crying that ‘you weren’t there’ into a (bought for me) Guinness, in the hope of a sympathy tug off a local. Thank you for your service brother 🫶🏻

Competing to see who can be the most respectful is agonising to watch. It's like the clapping for the NHS. It started as a nice gesture then ended up seeing who could bang their pots the loudest and neighbours clocking who wasn't on their doorsteps.

Me and my lad will be observing it to show our respects as it should be. I'm sure a few on here will be thinking of Palestine etc though. It’s almost like British forces have died there in the past and the whole thing is about being anti war as much as anything. You can think about anything during that minutes silence. It’s a beautiful thing about this country. That people are actually whining about what people may or may not think in that time is fucking pathetic. I used to always wear a poppy but now we have wankers who try to how to respect people and what’s right and wrong and have made it contentious. You see less people wearing them as it becomes more weaponised and it’s really sad what it’s become I think. If anyone thinks that anyone in that ground will disrespect it on purpose they are just wrong. Can't argue with alot of that Bayern. I hope it's observed mate.

Just wow, made the hairs on my neck stand on end.
Also ive seen the pre match video so many times but today, maybe it was the occasion, there was a lump in the throat. Particularly looking back at the era i first started to go down with my dad ( Macari ).
The times this club has me pulling my hair out i wouldnt change any of it.
