No they changed the rule a season or two back, outside the are that's a red card re stopping a goal scoring opportunity
Inside it's a yellow card and a penalty
To get a red card in the box it has to be serious foul play or violent challenge

He didn’t even get a yellow for it which was bizarre.
He also escaped a blatant yellow about 30 seconds into the game when he pulled Manhoef back. Ref was very lenient tonight.

You can’t be sent off if you have made a genuine attempt to play the ball. Any foul where you are adjudged to deliberately foul a player is still a straight red. As is a handball offence which prevents a goal, as if it is judged to not be accidental, a handball can never be considered a genuine attempt to play the ball. I haven’t seen the one on Bae today so can’t comment |

Every few months I’d see a post from some Oatcake members commenting on how poor we are defensively and they comment “we should’ve kept Danny Batth.”
Well tonight was a perfect example of why we got rid of him. He tries his best to give us a goal before he conceded the penalty, he is always on the brink of a disaster.
