Trying to be balanced. I wonder if they are thinking of trying to introduce a system where STH’s have the opportunity to notify the club of non attendance which means the club can try to re-sell the seat at a discounted price for that match (s), perhaps with % reimbursement to the STH. For at least 3 years now there are two seats next to myself which are empty for 90% of the season, either one or two of the same faces attend the other 10%. Enquire at the ticket office about availability and they tell you they are sold to STH’s. An historical glitch in the system or someone who can afford top priced tickets but only attends about four games a season? There's enough seats already free (from nobody being there), where would the extra people come from? There aren't any! I'd concentrate on why we need to keep swapping and changing managers, rather than annoy the regular purchasers of a season ticket. Come on. This is a non football (on the pitch) issue. One of a number, as the name suggests the Club is now continually investigating/implementing ways in which to “connect” with its supporter base. Cut them some slack. Dammed if they do, dammed if they don’t.

Why not think the best . The club are concerned people who buy tickets dont show and want to understand why so they can take action to help if possible . They are for a start frustrated by the number of 12.30 kos being scheduled and wabt ti lobby accordingly . Good luck with lobbying Sky. They pay the money so we can like it or lump it.

In regards to the fans missing games, when they eventually swap to the digital tickets next year, there should be a donation feature, the ticket is already paid for so the club is not losing money.
You can't make a game for whatever reason you donate the ticket through the Stoke app and then that ticket can be brought for a discounted fee and the proceeds given to charity.

"The Club was also encouraged to consider options as to how the song might be clipped or remixed differently to create a more dynamic and contemporary sound whilst maintaining the history and tradition." If Simon King isn't on the phone to Justice and/or The Chemical Brothers right now we've failed as a club. Always thought we missed a trick in the late 90s not getting Mike Flowers Pops to cover We'll Be With You b/w Delilah. i had mercifully forgotten about Mike Flowers now its back in my head damn you

First we had Ricky Martin's five pillars, now we've got Simon King's three. The line of "whilst stating that methods are being discussed to mitigate against alarming numbers regularly skipping matchdays despite being cardholders" is slightly concerning. I can't attend every home game due to living out the area, surely the club aren't going to put something in place that penalises people in a similar scenario to me? I buy a season ticket to support the club and have done since 1989. I bought one every year that I was at University and barely attended a game. I wasn't there on Saturday and I won't be there next Saturday. What are they going to do? Fine me next season? Stop me from buying a season ticket? Give my seat to someone else? The day they even contemplate doing something like that is the day they've lost me for good. Apparently Brentford penalise season ticket holders who don't attend, I can't recall how. My son's friend has a season ticket with his dad and last season invited my son to use his dad's ticket at the Utd match. My son offered to pay but was told he was actually doing them a favour in attending. I think they are allowed a couple of missed matches a season but as the dad is 78 and lives in Nottingham it is a huge commitment for him to attend every match. I don't attend night matches in winter because I don't get home till midnight and don't like driving in the dark in bad weather. I also have child care commitments on Wednesdays when my grandchildren obviously come before Stoke when there is a Wednesday match. I would hate Stoke to go down that route. Utd operate a scheme whereby season ticket holders can offer their tickets for resale if the can't attend. The advantage being that there are enough fans waiting to buy them. To buy one you have to pay something like £50 a season in order to get on the site to see what's available. My son used to do it but one season they paid their money and then were not able to get tickets to a single match so he stopped.

Worrying about missing ST holders seats is directly related to sub-standard on pitch performances. Get those right and these empty seats will soon be occupied again. It's like worrying about a bath not emptying and forgetting that the plug is still in.

My son used to do it but one season they paid their money and then were not able to get tickets to a single match so he stopped. Brentford run a scheme called 'Every seat counts' If a season ticket holder doesn't use their ticket for a league match they get a 'yellow card'. If they get four yellow cards they lose the automatic right to renew their ticket for the following season. To avoid getting a yellow card they have to 1) use the ticket, 2) transfer it to someone else (who in turn has to attend - the club will know because the ticket voucher will be scanned), 3) list it on a ticket exchange 2pm on the day before the game (this used to be 10am on the day of the game which didn't go down well), or 4) make sure their ticket is sold on the exchange programme even if the miss the deadline the day before. I get the thinking of having as many fans in the stadium as possible (mainly where there is demand at smaller grounds like Brentford) but the above wouldn't have worked for us (our group) for a variety of reasons. Rather than paying £2,000 up front for the season we'd just end up picking games and the club would make a fraction of the income.

If they start to penalise me for missing games on my season ticket then that will be the end of me buying season tickets. I suspect 1000s of others will make the same decision.

My son used to do it but one season they paid their money and then were not able to get tickets to a single match so he stopped. When I can’t make it, I can’t give away my tickets let alone sell them 😂😂 True story! I rarely miss a match unless on deaths door, same with my lads but they miss the occasional one. We always try to get somebody else to come along, not so easy for my 14yr olds ticket (as lets face it, you wouldnt bring a random kid!), but my eldests we can usually use. The club does have to realise though that although some people they cant be arsed/are apathetic unless we are successful, there are many who want to come but get pissed about by: Moved kick off times - its much better with the longer TV schedule so we know when they are, but 12.30 kick offs are a problem for a lot of people who: - Work Saturday mornings / early afternoon - many will be part time or doing Saturday hours until noon/1pm/2pm and dash for the games - Have kids playing Saturday sport - again a 12.30 KO prevents a lot from getting back from grassroots to the match at that time (thankfully the Sunday 12noon KO seems to have died a death, horrific for kids football folk!) - The ground and its parking/getaway situation is a nightmare even if you are local, so I cant imagine driving 2-3 hours to watch the match, being stuck on the car park until 10.30pm, then 2-3 hours travel back. (Maybe a suggestion here is to create some sort of priority parking for non locals to get away quickly - would need some thought) - There is also a weird aggression in the stands currently, has been since COVID with people getting ridiculously pissed, angry, impatient with the team, with each other and confrontation, even at home games. - Away if it isnt going well is twice as bad. If I was a parent, would I want to bring any younger kids to that? - Midweek games parents are less likely to bring little Johnny to the game and not get home until 11pm. I always did with mine, caused many an argument with the Mrs. Kids got taught not to complain about being tired lol. I dont think Stoke will get to that point of stopping renewals, not unless we are in the Prem and selling out every week, I think they are just trying to understand why you would buy a ticket and not come. Some of it is the above, some of it is just life - people work longer, stranger hours in 24/7 Britain, and have other things to do sometimes in the spare time they get. Dont understand it myself, but lets face it, we have been shite for about 32 of the 46 years I've been going - as I say to my boys, we dont generally go for the football, its a day at the pub for darts and pool, meet friends, have a laugh and a beer, watch the match - that can sometimes be the best or worst part - then go home and rave/moan about it. But when its good, its epic. When its bad....you just have to stick with it and wait for the good times again.

I'm with Benji on this Don't see how people are making the leap from trying to understand why st holders are not attending to looking to punish those who don't We have some seriously paranoid supporters Have you not made a leap by assuming those that are understandably concerned are " seriously paranoid"? The wording is what's raised eyebrows. They haven't said about lobbying Sky or finding out why season card holders aren't regularly attending so I don't get why people are making that leap either. If that was the plan then why not say that? The wording suggests that they're already passed that point as well, they're already discussing how to mitigate against season cardholders not regularly attending. And that's what's being discussed on a public messageboard by those who it refers to (me for starters), there's absolutely nothing paranoid about it.

I'm not saying anybody is paranoid, but I think that sentence in the minutes has been over-interpreted if it is taken to mean that the Club is considering any form of sanction against non-attenders. I've seen no evidence of that. I have seen the email sent out to supporters who have missed games which is worded as follows We have noticed that, in recent weeks, you haven't always used your Season Card to attend Championship fixtures at the bet365 Stadiun. Your support as a truly valued card carrying Potter is important to us and we wish to ensure the best possible matchday experience every time you come to ST4. We would be very grateful if you could provide your feedback, via the online survey below, and inform us of anything we can do to secure your support in the stadium for upcoming fixtures. Championship football returns to ST4 when we renew rivalries with Derby County following a three-year hiatus on Saturday, November 2 (12.30pm kick-off), and we would love to welcome you. Thank you for your continued support.I read that as a genuine attempt to understand the reasons and whether there is anything the Club can do to reduce non-attendance. The survey lists a number of possible reasons why a SC holder might miss a game including those mentioned above such as kick-off times, traffic, team performance etc, as well as an "other please specify" category. I think this is a reasonable and sensible action by the Club and it will be interesting to see what the results are, and what actions the Club plan to take when it gets those results.

I think the reference to measures to mitigate meant the survey. Of course the key issue will be what measures are taken when the results are known. If, for example, altered kick-off times are a significant reason, that should enter the national debate with the EFL about Televised football.

Received an email today for a Survey including about how many games you miss a season and rate several statements about reason why you miss them, plus the polite what can we do to assist you. This is all well and good but it seems like a survey to collect data to find out why some ST miss many games as there is minimal actions that can be taken in the real world as Sky money is the major income stream.
Then Q14 will you be attending the Derby game on 2 Nov. Great getting the survey template but please make it relevant to the time it is sent out.

I’ve had to miss the Tuesday night matches since the start of the season because I run a Brownie unit and have been unable to get cover. It’s been really frustrating to miss out on matches, especially since I’ve paid for them by purchasing a season ticket. Not sure why I should be penalised for that if the club followed a Brentford style model because I’m volunteering in my local community and our fixtures have been planned to fall that way.

Ive spoke to loads of people who won’t renew next year as they miss too many games. This includes kids who play on Saturday and Sunday mornings making the 12:30 games almost impossible to attend. Plus it will kill the atmosphere and pre match revenue going forward, IMO

My view is collectively, clubs should have held a firmer line on this. This could cause long term damage to supporter levels in my view
