Yes because it’s nostalgia and nostalgia is bollocks. It was better back in my day. Despite your day being that football was a no go for a lot of people because of the scale of violence. And that’s not defending these morons today. But it’s like drugs didn’t exist back in the 70s 🤣 To be fair to Stigger you weren’t around in the 70’s or 80’s so he probably has a better knowledge of it than yourself. I think the problem is that it was widely accepted then that many football fans were a load of pissed up drugged up yobs. These days society acknowledges this type of behaviour is unacceptable so when it happens it comes as a bigger shock to people and of course the demon social media plays a big part in stoking these things up. By the sounds of it a tiny minority of our supporters were a disgrace yesterday but thankfully now others won’t stand for it and there are ways these so called supporters get caught and punished. Let’s hope that’s the case because it’s pretty disgusting. |

We're disagreeing on how best to support our team, club and manager.
The comparison with the 70s and 80s is futile.
What is 100% apparent is that we have a sizeable minority of people who don't care that their behaviour and attitude is often offensive to fellow supporters (much of the time) and embarrassing always.
The amount of abuse from pent up anger that people are displaying has gone off the scale. It IS worse than ever!
Society has created a lot of sorry, small-time, small-minded characters the length and breadth of the country, and we have more than our fair share supporting Stoke.
How this is controlled is a major issue for debate and action, ... otherwise it will contribute further to the demise of our club.

Unfortunately, it will always exist. Some people can stand their ale without getting aggressive and others become complete morons. You get the same thing in pubs and nightclubs. It was different in the 70's. The N40 didn't need to get pissed to cause trouble. They went looking for it because that was the thing back then. And it just doesn't happen at Stoke. Most clubs have their share of yobs. And it isn't just youngsters. Some of the yobs are old enough to be grandparents.

It was fantastic at the Vic, people just lobbing out their old man and pissing in the position they were standing, sometimes on the back of your leg. Stream of slash running down the steps, and that was a home game. Oooh how I miss it, not.

Similar tale on my train back from Stockport, Stoke and Man City fans fighting, train halted at Congleton, police called, train going nowhere... I had to get someone to come pick me up.
That's the second train I've been on recently when football fans have caused the train to be cancelled... the other was at Banbury after the Oxford game.

Whenever we take more than 1,500 anywhere the state of some of our fans is a fucking embarrassment. 19 year old coke heads who think they’re invincible and 50 year old blokes acting like complete wankers when they should know better…… It's not exclusive to away games I'm afraid, it's daily life in Stoke on Trent. |

I’m firmly middle aged and modern society is utter dogshite, down entirely to a lack of manners being drilled into kids from birth (as they were when I was a kid) and the rise of social media. There is zero respect anymore and I feel like a right miserable old bastard moaning about it, but we are not advancing as a society in any way. I went yesterday with the wife and she said she won’t be going to a away game she felt it wasn’t safe and had to stand on the steps waiting for me while I was getting the drinks and there were some right tools in there. |
