Nothing compared with the above, but in August 77, a friend and I came back from Spain for our first game in Division 2, away at Mansfield. The only thing that marks it out is that we hitched our way home. Must have taken 72 hours.
Needless to say we lost. And I think it's fair to say the away following was "lively".

I moved to Falmouth in Cornwall, which is about 300 miles away from Stoke, the season before we got promoted to the Prem after having a season ticket for 10 years. I get to about one game every two seasons on average because Iβm not mad.

I do come from NZ but only for a couple of games a season.π This makes me feel pathetic when I say a twelve hour day 360 round trip from South East London to watch us at home four times a season is rather expensive and hard work. That's right. Pathetic.

We go regularly from Dublin, fly to Birmingham, hire a car, drive to Holiday Inn and if we get the car back within 24hrs its very reasonable. 12 30 matches are a challenge.

I want to give a mention for some of the London area supporters. I use to be a member before moving to California and many of us travelled to almost every home and away games this was way back in the seventies. Some of them have been going to most games home being a 300 mile round trip and away be it Chelsea or Carlisle for over 50 years. Once it was easy with Brit rail, Saturday games and 3 pm kick offs, today connections are limited on Sundays and games start at any time and any day. When you think of how many miles they have travelled (at least ten thousand a season) talk about to the moon and back. Most of you know Monica who is obvious one to mention but there are a few others loyal to the core through rain sun snow and strikes.

Not counting regular games I've attended while visiting UK anyway, not sure that really counts as travelling "for" a game.. I've travelled from S. America specifically for games three times - the FA Cup semi, final and Valencia. All before I had a family so time and money weren't too big a problem... now working on the excuses for a play-off final trip in May '25 (had six years to perfect them...)

Travelled up from Penzance to see the Norwich game. In the car at 0630, having first pint in bod, trentham by 1230! Started life in Market Drayton, used to go with my dad when I was a young teenager ('77,'78) Plenty of lifers on here from all over the UK for sure! Had a fabulous day with my eldest son (my birthday treat from him!) Have to say though, I enjoy the away games more. Atmosphere is brilliant, done Plymouth this season, did Bristol and QPR last. At home, there are too many folk who sit there, stoney faced and shout/sing nothing - wtf? they do my head in!! Love the Oatcake - so many opinions based on no knowledge! It's a microcosm of the world we live in!

Chap (season ticket holder) older than me and I'm 65 sitting behind me travelled from Ilkley Moor via bus and 2 trains today .Another man older than me who sat in front of me (first time I've seen him) drove up from Bournemouth last night.. Have to admire their support for the club. Takes me all my effort and enthusiasm to travel from Penkhull. Who travels the furthest on here ?? Did he remember his hat?

Used to astonish me when I was a regular at games the places people used to travel from to watch stoke every week. On a personal note. I mentioned this on here years ago. I hitched a lift from Junction 10 at Walsall for a pre season friendly at Exeter. I just got up in the morning and fancied going so I wrote out a cardboard sign and got the bus to Walsall. Some sound stokies who were driving back had a space in the car and dropped me back at the same place after the game.

By no means the furthest here but I live in S.London so driving is out. I have a season ticket but the main cost is on trains - Β£90 return to SOT station for most of the trains to be delayed, cancelled and/or full of Man Utd fans.
