Thompson playing for N Ireland - www.irishfa.com/news/2024/october/senior-men-s-squad-for-nations-league-fixtures-revealed - Belarus (in Budapest) and Bulgaria at home.

He's playing for Walsall. I guess that doesn't signal international quality despite his decent goal return. A lot of the top clubs' loanees out are at our level or decent league one sides, and maybe that makes the difference.

Yes risk of injury but the more they play international level the better players they become and their value goes up

In particular the younger ones getting recognised is only going to help us recruit more good young players

Essential the head coach plays them more often than he has so far
