4-4-2?

But it wasn’t 4-4-2 was it? It was clearly 4-1-3-2 with either Burger or Moran (they alternated) playing just in front of the back 4. Anyway with that starting XI it worked like a dream, but doubt we’d dare play like that at Swansea. At one point in the first half whilst waiting for Pompey to take a goal kick we lined up in an absolutely perfect 4-1-3-2 formation with Burger as the 1. It really couldn’t have been any clearer if they’d drawn it on a white board in the training room. Spot on and i think lawal is considered to be the ideal 1 which leaves a bigger pool for the other midfielders depending on the opppostion etc

We had to switch so Koumas could help Wilmott more but Bae rarely set up wide

4-4-2?

It got me excited because I've always preferred 2 up top (But the damned girls never would cooperate) anyway, back to subject, I'm not fussed either about how the rest of it shakes out behind them. I've haven't seen a striker at Stoke that was effective being alone up top since before...forever. Mainly because we couldn't seem to ever get a useable ball TO them.
Gallagher has been brilliant, so let's keep him healthy and in bubble-wrap please. NP may want to start teaching Million how to do that role - that guy has the talent, still young and with this fixture schedule, they'd both get plenty of game time ffs. My only critique of Million is that he needs to keep his head up for that last final pass. To me it just makes mathematical sense to have 2 up there for their keeper to worry about, especially if our midfield isn't passing/pissing backwards.
Now Narcis don't you let me down and inexplicably revert to previous negative tactics! We've already had that for the past like, 8 years. And just make sure they're getting plenty of coaching about having the ball at their feet - it's NOT a hot potato. I'd make them go everywhere with a ball at their feet - to breakfast, all during practice, to lunch and all the way home. My mantra to them would be "you can't go ANYWHERE without a ball at your feet!" (Coop the wives/girlfriends to enforce this as well) Obviously they weren't taught this as kids so...you never know, they might end up even learning how to get jiggy with it - what I appreciated about Ronaldinho.
