Their keepers injury, or ‘injury’
My question is… was it genuine? As I felt the game turned when he went down, it was like the fans were all back on side after the equaliser and the assumption that the game would get away from us.
I genuinely don’t know if it was real or not… did anyone get a good view?

It looked to me like he was feigning it to buy their team a water break.
One of my gripes with modern football - seems to be happening more and more.

I watched the game with the Portsmouth commentary out of choice, as ours drives me insane.
The Radio Solent guy along with ex Pompey striker Guy Whittingham mentioned that their manager used the tactic of having their goalkeeper go down 'injured'from time to time to slow the game down when they were under pressure.

Bang on the Money..Berger told the referee all their players had all gone for a unscheduled drinks break. Saw that from the Boothen End..Blatant cheating by Pompey players..

Thought he was faking it tbh.. pure game management at its worst.
Everyone is doing it and every one should be booked for time wasting.

Never seen a worse performance.
It surpassed Heurelho Gomes almost murdering one of his defenders and then having a literal nervous breakdown.
If Will Norris went to give fresh air a hug he’d miss.

Martinez went down for Villa last night in the 90th odd minute with.........cramp. A fucking goal keeper going down with cramp. He was even smiling the cheating twat. Needs addressing because its getting bad. They're literally laughing about doing it..

From my angle it looked like Gallagher never touched him. Blatant cheating in order to have a 2 minute regroup and attempt to take the sting out of the game.
Fortunately though, these things always seem to rile us as a home support and if anything it actually helped us & we blew them away.
Overall he did us a favour by cheating.

very rarely saw it in domestic football Players regularly hobbled off then sprinted back on that's true however there is absolutely no doubt that players everywhere feign injury far far more now than in the past far more diving far more rolling around etc

I think with the speed of the game now, you do see more injuries and hard for refs to distinguish. Arsenal were embarrassing v Man City, a bit like Bmouth at our place that time

Thought from his performance he was a youngster covering a keeper crisis but apparently not and is actually 31:
Portsmouth On 14 June 2023, Norris agreed to sign for League One club Portsmouth on a three-year deal.[36] On 5 August 2023, Norris made his league debut for Portsmouth in a 1-1 home draw against Bristol Rovers.[37] Norris was named in the League One Team of the Season at the EFL Awards along with teammates Marlon Pack and Conor Shaughnessy.[38] Norris was an ever-present as Portsmouth were promoted to the Championship as league winners, having spent the previous six seasons in League One. He captained the side on the final day of the season in a 2-0 away win against Lincoln City in which he saved a second half penalty from Daniel Mândroiu.[39] Norris kept 19 clean sheets in the league.
Really couldn't believe how wank he was and that he kept trying to pass out from the back.

The ref took advice from the lino who I would imagine could see Gallagher was nowhere near him - a pure and simple cheat tactic to a) try to get the forward booked, and b) kill our impotus in the game Is obvs a tactic as their players all dashed over for a drink expecting a break in play Our lot stayed put, the ref (who refused to allow the trainer on, despite them coming en masse all geared up) angrily blew his whistle to get them back on and gave us a throw in
It actually had a very negative affect on Portsmouth after that
- Ref gave them nothing at all, no soft fouls, allowed us to boss them - It gave us a lift and we went on to start a goalfest soon after - The goalie spent 5 mins with a pretend limp then forgot about it and was dashing about...
Even the pen (I am in block 20 so right behind it, screamed pen straight away) I think he was going to give them a free kick - but Cannon deffo got their first and I think the lino told him so. Was a soft pen for me but....

I don't think it was a turning point in the game, they were getting battered from the kick off, we got a little nervous after we'd scored but seemed to wake back up after they equalised. The keeper was obviously trying to break up the play and slow things down, it happens. Gouranga.

Plus their away support, despite travelling for 4 hours x 2 to watch an utterly dire performance, were amazing. If we had a tenth of their positivity and patience this board would be a better place.

Exactly at first I thought it wasn’t a penalty, but on the replay it definitely was, Norris slid into him and took him out whilst getting nowhere near the ball.

There was a shot towards him in about the 80th minute that looked to be easily catchable as was a good height & certainly wasnt a piledriver of any note, & he punched it away when it looked easier to gather it up!
Suppose once you've leaked in as many as he had all semblance of normality goes out the window and self preservation mode kicks in to prevent the ball coming anywhere near his goal!
