'Undermined'? It seems that the rumour-mongering is becoming gospel. You might have noticed I said “appears” and “even if not”, I’m very careful with my language when it comes to rumours! Try reading what I actually said. I wouldn't be so polite chief. Its obvious he was undermined. And hence the totally bizarre timing and unfolding of events. Walters failed to manage his HC. Walters is clueless, a total bluffer as Roy Keane warned.. I mean we've flirted with relegation several times since coming down from the Premier league. The club is in a mess dealing with legacy issues. And Walters bright idea is to bring some unheard of coach to pick up Schumacher's reigns 5 games into a season with no pre season to bed him in. Its text book lunacy..

Try reading what I actually said. I did. Yes you have used the word 'appears' but it is clear you are going with the narrative. While there is no disputing that Walters is the mouth-piece for the recent controversial management decisions made by the club, I see no evidence that he has (apparently or not) undermined SS from day one. Unless more info comes to light I can only assume that they have come up with a plan to try and take the club forward and it involved gambling on NP as the chosen HC and not SS. The sacking out of the blue was a shoddy way to treat SS but it is a stretch to determine from this that he has been constantly undermined from the outset.

He won't be coming back.. nor should he now, it's not like we were storming upwards under him anyway. Although I must say I think his sacking was completely preemptive. Whether Pelach is the answer remains to be seen ( early signs are not great though it has to be said, although early is the operative word here ). If he doesn't work we definitely won't be re-approaching SS though.

As I said whatever happened the timing was lunacy and as you say the manner of it shoddy to say the least. We will never know the full truth because of the curse of NDA’s but it’s not beyond the realms of possibilities. The main point was of course the lunacy of our top management’s decision making over the last 7/8 years which extraordinarily has been surpassed by the current event of which Walters must have played a key part.

Unless you can predict the future, I don’t know how you can be so firm in your outlook. It’s almost as though you are utterly convinced of the outcome, maybe the same kind of thinking Walters had when making the call, the difference being he was working with far more insight into the details. Time will tell of course, and maybe you will be proven right, but maybe you won’t. That’s the nature of big bold decisions, it takes some balls to put your neck on the block.

I’m just questioning why you feel so certain that this is actually an act of lunacy? It is a gamble, of course, there is no question, but surely it’s too early to pass judgement. Like any big gamble, it can go either way, a huge failure or a major success, or maybe in our case mid table mediocrity. But surely, repeating the same pattern of the last 7 years would in itself be stupidity, we can all see it had not been working (excluding MoN who I think we should have stuck with).

imagine the scenes on Thursday morning if after another demoralising loss we get the below statement:
Dear Stoke City supporters,
I want to take this opportunity to address recent developments within our club. After careful reflection, I have come to the conclusion that the decision to part ways with Steven Schumacher was a significant mistake. I acknowledge that my judgment was clouded, and for that, I sincerely apologize to our loyal fans.
The hiring of Narcis Pelach did not yield the results we had hoped for, and I take full responsibility for that decision. It has become clear to me that the advice I received during this process was misguided. I must specifically address the role of Jon Walters in this regard; his guidance led us astray, and as a result, he will also be leaving the club.
In light of these events, I am pleased to announce the reinstatement of Steven Schumacher as our manager. Steven has a proven track record and understands the ethos of our club. I am confident that under his leadership, we will navigate this challenging period and return to the competitive form we all expect.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding during this time. Together, we will work to rebuild and strengthen our club.
Best regards,
John Coates Chairman, Stoke City FC

Best regards, John Coates Chairman, Stoke City FC we are more likely to get the below: Dear Stoke City supporters, It’s time for some straight talk. After reflecting on our recent decisions, it’s evident that sacking Steven Schumacher was a mistake, heavily influenced by Jon Walters—who, frankly, has shown a shocking lack of judgment. Not only did he provide poor advice, but his off-field antics have raised serious questions about his commitment to the club. Rumors about his inappropriate behavior, including alleged dealings with Katrina, the toilet cleaner, are simply unacceptable. As for the future, I’m thrilled to announce that Tony Pulis is back. For those of you who loved to criticize him, tough luck; we’re embracing the style that many of you seem to pine for. Walters is gone, and frankly, it’s about time. This isn’t about catering to anyone’s whims; it’s about steering this club back to where it needs to be. So, let’s buckle up and see if this return to our roots can deliver the results we’re all craving. In the words of my father, what’s all the fuss about? Best, John Coates Chairman, Stoke City FC

All you’ve done there is ignore his first five games (unbeaten) and ignore the games post Cardiff (much improved results). For fairness, his first 12 games saw 3 wins 3 draws and 6 losses and his next 12 saw 633 so arguably, he was turning things around. Nothing to do with short memories. To be fair, all I've done is take the factual results of Jan/Feb 2024 which saw 1 win and 6 losses, not good in anyone's book after an average start. Obviously the wheels were coming off at that point well and truely. Odd tactics, odd post match interviews, a general 'caught in the headlights' air about it, random team selections and substitutions. Walters was brought in,did a pep talk, the team voiced wanting to play a different way to the manager's system in order to save the day (which happened) and we ambled into close season that saw us lose to Stockport County, narrowly beat Crewe with a couple of wins over lower league opposition. Thoroughly taught a lesson by Watford, West Brom etc humiliated by Oxford Oh and the kids got us through Cup rounds! I think we will have to agree to disagree that things were being turned around I'm afraid. We all have differences of opinion and that’s all good 👍 If you’re selecting a factual run of his worst results though, then maybe I should select a factual run of his best results 🤭 As I said before, you are being very selective! Not sure about using friendlies to argue your point either. Friendly results mean nothing. We agree to disagree, but his record was getting better 😉 I hope it works out for us and Pelach, but I’ve not heard anyone suggest that this is a good move, so far! Hopefully it comes good.

This is football and odder things have happened. We've obviously cut our bridges with SS, especially with JW at the helm. So JW would have to go as a "pre". It's highly unlikely isn't?

I'm not sure you'll find a factual run of his best results where there are 7 consecutive matches with 6 wins in there and one loss however Anyways, here we are now. I really don't want any HC/Manager to fail here and it's all getting a bit deperate isn't it? I do, however feel that if we could all somehow grit our teeth and get behind this young Coach and young squad we may yet drag ourselves out of this hole we've been swallowed up in. It will take time though and a lot of patience but we can't carry on with this sacking cycle as infinitum.

In terms of timing, giving the keys to a very inexperienced DOF, sacking a HC 5 games into the season after giving him the whole summer and transfer window and winning 7 of the last 10 games, employing a HC who has never held this position before and has no track record at all, is that sanity. I think we are in someways still repeating the same mistakes of the last 7 years, ripping things up and starting from scratch again and I still fail to see a clear plan from the club. As onlooker said we have just seemed to change from god manager, to god DOF which changes very little. You say it’s just a gamble, I think that’s an understatement, it’s more like Russian roulette. So now we have a chairman who’s not covered himself in glory for the last 7/8 years, a very inexperienced DOF, an even more inexperienced HC and a very young team. If that doesn’t ring alarm bells I don’t know what does, I’d love Pelach to succeed and I will support him when he’s here but he has, as some people have said, been thrown into the lions den by a dysfunctional club. I’d settle for mid table mediocrity at the moment, which I think we would at very least achieved under Schumacher. As I said I and I expect most supporters will give Pelach time but he’s going to have a baptism of fire and an enormous task moving us forward in his first foray in management. Let’s hope he can succeed, I think we can both agree on that.

Remember the final game of last season, we absolutely took Bristol city apart, I was so looking forward to this season thinking this Schuey bloke is the best Manager wev'e had for a long while.
OK, it wasn't the best of starts and Oxford was awful, but only 5 games in and we had 6 points in the bag, we won 7 of the last 10, supporters in the main, I think were backing him.
What happens, he get's the sack and we appoint guy who seems to be a decent coach, but absolutely no experience of being the top man.
Complete and utter mind blowingly madness.

And that's the thing. Barely any fans were calling for his head. The odd murmur on here of course. But no real tension building for his removal. It'll go down as a very very odd move should it not work out. I hope Pelach can pull it out of the fire I really do 🤞

I would genuinely have him back. 7 wins in 10. Promotion and chances for our exciting youngsters. Got rid of the majority of the deadwood. Was building in the first foundations of a team we could really get behind. Was rebuilding the bond between the club and our fans. Need I say more? Yes there were a few poor performances, but that was to be expected early days - for all that we were midtable and on a cup run, which is what we would have realistically wanted/expected from this season. It was hardly failing was it? And we gave Neil and Jones far longer even in the face of us going backwards at an alarming rate. Sacked solely for the reason that it fed Walters ego, so he could have a cowardly stubborn yes man who would allow himself to be cuckolded by Walters on all matters tactical, recruitment etc. So Jon, grow a pair, Sack off Walters and Pelach, get Schuey back as MANAGER (failing that Danny Rohl will be acceptable) then, if you wont sell the club, leave it to actual football people and not your friends and Sycophants! If you don't, you will be responsible for taking this club back to the dark days of third division football. And the longer you leave it, the worse it's going to be. Spot on! It’s how I feel right now.

I think Pelach deserves at least as much time as Schumacher
2 games in is an over emotional, irrational response

I wouldn't want that.
