If Coates goes for yet another no mark British manager, you could be right. For me this is clearly John Walters taking 100% control of the footballing side. He wants his own guy and is very ambitious. He wants to do it his way and John Coates is backing him. I hope he is the right man to back. Well Pelach seems in the mould of Walters, passionate, articulate, ambitious, hard-working...bit of an underdog right now. Must admit this interview is fairly impressive.

Giving him the entire summer and 5 games is not decisive. It's the very definition of indecisive. It was absolutely decisive. And a fantastic decision. We've been largely fucking shit under this guy and he's been rightly potted. Giving someone the entire summer and 5 games (which is what you said the club has done) isn't decisive - it's avoiding a decision that should have been made at the end of last season.

Can’t say I’m surprised. Results have been poor with some dreadful performances This has nothing to do with results. The teams we have lost to are top, 5th and 7th. You can't expect a squad with so many newcomers and young players to gel in 5 matches and for some players one match. There have been promising signs especially v Middlesbrough. This carried over from last season. There was a real threat of relegation

None who can back it up at this specific club where everything is toxic.

Pathetic

Only just found this out but am shocked. I'm the most fickle of supporters but never expected it. Did hear the commentator on Sky say that SS would be under pressure if he didn't get a result and I thought it was a stupid comment but did he know more?

Wheres Boskamp when you need him ? It’s certainly got Boskamp vibes. We’re possibly in for a bumpy ride but it’ll be one hell of a ride 🤣

Something has definitely gone off behind the scenes, it’s very unlike Stoke to sack a manager so swiftly and out of the blue like this, they’d usually give him at least another 6-8 games before wielding the axe, it’s not like we’ve had a totally disastrous start to the season either, it’s been Fairly poor but not disastrous!

If the replacement is this Norwich coach who's NEVER held the top job then I am fucking done. The club is an absolute basket case. Every great manager starts as a coach. Surely we've got to give him a chance ? im not being funny, but after all these years, I want to see someone who knows what they are doing at this level. We have appointed ONE manager who has achieved promotion since our relegation- and he was awful (Neil). Rowett, Jones, MON, SS never achieved promotion. We’re a joke club now sadly. The up and coming young manager fantasy has gone really well so far!! Ffs. There must be young continental managers that have achieved more than this fella? Mental gamble of an appointment.

Well this is a bit of a surprise after a morning out at the shops. For what it’s worth I’ve never been particularly inspired or hopeful about SS but it’s a shame to see SCFC rain on yet another young managers career. It’s a hell of a brave move and should be respected as such. A few people’s reputations are well and truly on the line.
(As a completer irrelevant aside it’s a measure how much you’ve collapsed down the footballing food chain when Sky Sports News have absolutely zero interest in this)

Somebody on this thread made a telling comment. How the heck have we pulled this pelachi guy out of the hat . Seems in stoke like . Well as the guy said above Gibson played for Norwich . Now this leads you to think the following. Gibson was a Walters appointment. They played together and when Gibson signed Walters waxed lyrical as to Gibson being professional and dedicated. So Gibson knows this Pelachi guy. So somewhere along the line he may have mentioned him . Or being totally conspiracy theory tipped the wink which would mean he ( Gibson ) was undermining SS . Something in between is probably the case but we have clearly had a candidate list ( righty so) should we pull the trigger . I have been wondering about the link. Interesting. Still shocked by the decision especially as I expected us to the next two games.

Well, I'm not surprised in the slightest to be honest. Wasn't the right appointment in the first place in my opinion. Unfortunately, I don't trust 'em to get the next one right. I keep saying we need someone who the players have at least heard of. Needs to be a strong character with a proven man-management record. A bit of charisma and gravitas would be quite nice. Gawd knows, I couldn't even listen to one of SS' interviews so I think I'd 've completely switched off during a team talk And no, I don't have an opinion on a specific name. Just hope we can finally get an appointment that works. Any fancy pants newbie on the scene can talk a good talk in an interview. We need to look past the bull cr@p this time. My final word, you get a pretty good hint it's not working if your players have a heart to heart and tell you they don't think what you're doing is working! Biggest sign you've already 'lost' a dressing room and yet we found ourselves coming into a new season as we'd left the last. That was the biggest surprise to me.

The points target seems to have been quite important in the end I guess.
Stupid timing, they made the decision to keep him on and they should have stuck with it.

Jones and SS had promotions at their previous clubs in fact all the managers mentioned had degrees of success before joining Stoke. The problem for me is higher up the food chain at the club.

His CV doesn't suggest it. His biggest claim to fame seems to as assistant to Corberan at Huddersfield. His managerial career has been a 9th and a relegation with Perlada in the Spanish second division. Wow! How do you choose him? He has been assistant at Norwich for one unremarkable season. The only thing which with my very positive hat on is that we are negotiating with Corberan and he wants this bloke as his assistant again. Now that would be an amazing appointment. 😂😂😂 As an outsider (WBA fan), I must confess I love the Oatcake. I can always find some snippets that brighten my day, and today is no exception.
"Negotiating with Corberan....."
An Oatcake classic!

An Oatcake classic! We had people earlier describing the idea of Moyes coming in as nothing more than “a safe pair of hands”, as if he’d entertain it. As they did last time, some also think Graham Potter might be interested in it.

With all due respect to the coach at Norwich we’re linked with, I’m not sure he would be at the top of list if we could take our pick of any manager we wanted.

On the other hand with JW taking on the sporting director role and largely handling the transfers we are not really looking for a manager in the traditional sense - they are long gone at this level - we are looking for a head coach.
