Jordan the player was a barnstormer Jordan the manager was duller than John Majors Spitting Image puppet

I remember his first match, the whole of The Vic was bouncing - "Joe Jordans red and white army". within weeks he was sending us to sleep.

Dropping Vince Overson for John Clark fer christsakes! The bizzare sight of Ian Cranson overlapping on the right wing! Gordon Marshall!!!!(Somebody on this board says he isn’t Stoke’s worst keeper).

Him or Haugaard Haugaard is a good shout but he was just incompetent. Marshall took incompetency and gave it visual flair, that would astonish you even as much as a great goal. He needs a compilation video 😂

30 years ago today since Joseph Jordan was sacked. It paved the way for Lou to return. In reality, Jordan was up against it from the moment Lou was sacked at Celtic. I can vividly remember us getting stuffed away to Bolton and with the knowledge that Lou had left Celtic, I started the Lou Lou skip to my Lou chant in the away end..... Jordan was sacked on the Monday if my memory serves me well, Asa Hartford stood in as caretaker before Lou returned. I like to think that I played a small part in getting rid of JJ and the return of the Messiah!!!!!

Think we knew that the end was nigh for JJ. Think Reading had done us 4-0 round the same time

Dull as he unquestionably was, we finished a mere 4 points off 6th that season. I bit more bravery in some of the games would have seen us in the play offs. Some dreadful recruitment, a poor start to the following season, and Macari losing his job quickly at Celtic was the end of him.

What did us in was away form. His first season was just odd. Home W10 D4 L2 Away W1 D6 L8 That would have been pretty standard Stoke form under Waddo, prior to the arrival of Alan Hudson.

Hopefully it's okay that I throw this in here... Because of kick off times, us and Wolves hosted the very first league games played in the world. Which also means that we were the first team to ever lose a league game and also the first team to not score in a league game! Think my glass is too half empty tonight …
