I think Vik should be OK as he soldiered on. Phillips got injured last game too. If he’s out he’ll be a big loss. Very good player. I spoke to him after the game. He said he injured his shoulder at Blackburn and was feeling it again today. Probably glad of the international break. He seems a decent lad.

www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-injury-team-news-9719836“Enda and Ash are just little niggly things and nothing to be too concerned about. “Ben Pearson will be longer than the others, Lynden is looking really good and will hopefully be joining in sooner than the others. Bosun is out running and doing really well. He’s desperate to play and it’s been annoying. He’s desperate to be involved and he’s pushing himself. He’s doing well, not too far. “Sam has had no reaction and he’s pushing too. They’re both running, both fine, so it’s a case of how far we push them and how quickly to make sure that when they come back they don’t get injured.”

Positive updates for once, mind you, being Stoke it could mean months for Lawal & Gallagher 🤣

New Year for them I guess. Disappointing. Incredibly disappointing! I think given our recent performances these two could be the icing on the cake. More defensive output as well as attacking threat.

I think come January, Lawal, Gallagher and Pearson will be much like getting 3 new signings, which should give us a massive boost.

Lawal & Gallagher back in 2 - 3 weeks as per the above quotes January is unnecessary paranoia which continues to permeate this MB > check out the QPR match thread & how many expecting defeat < which to be fair given we've been rubbish for years is understandable) however Pearson appears to be out much longer, no indication as yet he'll be back for January

www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-injury-news-double-9736118Pelach will also have Lynden Gooch - who he hasn't yet been able to call on since being appointed - back as of Monday and he is in contention to feature in the match-day squad when the Potters welcome Preston North End to the Bet365 Stadium on Tuesday evening "Bosun Lawal and Sam Gallagher in hopefully two, but maybe three, weeks will be back training with the group" "They made massive steps in the international break and so I want to say thank you to the medical staff. We have to wait a little more with Ben Pearson, but he's making steps as well, we just have to wait more." "He (Lawal) is getting ready," the Spaniard added. "He's running and he looks fitter than we thought and the pain is away. The guy is coming. The medical staff and the performance staff gave it their all and this is exactly what I wanted. It's credit to them that Enda Stevens is available, it's credit to them that Ashley Phillips is available. It's credit to them that Bosun and Sam Gallagher are doing massive steps to come back quicker than we thought. "I'm demanding sometimes, I know that, but I am grateful, these are what I want the standards to be. I want to make sure people get credit when they deserve it, and they deserve this. They are coming, we cannot use them this week, but ahead of this busy period we will hopefully see them. "Maybe they won't be at their best level and we need to understand that - Bosun Lawal hasn't played a game in the Championship yet. He's very young and we're excited to see him but it's not fair to expect that he'll be great from the first day. We must wait for his best performances."

Both Lawal and Gallagher are being treated very carefully, and it makes sense. 2-3 weeks till they are training with the squad suggests 4-5 weeks before being in the match day squad (EDIT - the language re Gooch seems to say training with squad = available, I presumed it would need couple of weeks to get sharp).
So Christmas fixtures might be on bench?
Pelach seems to be focussed on getting the best out of players and they seem to like him. We definitely have the players to get 6 points from our next two games which would be a fantastic platform and make Burnley a bit of a free hit. Gooch will be handy to add some depth after this week, with games coming thick and fast we will need it - I make it 7 in 26 days from Sunderland match. Having Gally and Bosun as possible bench players (for Vidigal and Thommo at the moment) will help rest other players at the tail end of this slightly daunting run:
A Sunderland A Luton Town H Cardiff City A Sheffield Wednesday H Leeds United H Sunderland A Burnley
Having both ready to start v Plymouth on 4 January would be great.

The way Pelach speaks there it sounds like Gooch is back training on Monday and immediately available for selection, so surely this will be the case with Gally and Bosun in 3 weeks time?

The last update was on November 1st, and we were told it was positive news on Gallagher, who will be back after the international break.
Now it's November 22nd, the international break has come and gone, and we're told Gallagher will hopefully be back in training in 2 or 3 weeks.
This, according to Pelach, means Gallagher is taking "massive steps to come back quicker than we thought".
I think we need to take these injury updates with a pinch of salt to be honest.

Hopefully I think we can see him after the international break. We’ll see exactly when because it’s the hamstring injury he picked up in the Swansea game and you know it’s a little bit tricky and we have to be cautious. This is what the medical staff is telling me but this is our target, for after the international break we will start to see him, bringing him back into training slowly and when he is robust enough hand there is no risk of getting a new injury we will play him. I’m quite positive. He’s progressing well." I'm sorry, but that's an upbeat statement whichever way you look at it. To reveal, 3 weeks later, that he's still 2 or 3 weeks away from training is a contradiction. How can he claim this recovery is quicker than we thought?
