Whitchurch Alport v Wythenshaw
Sadly I will only be there in spirit. If Alport win they create club history as it will be the furthest they have ever been!

Local teams to me have made it through. 1874 Northwich beat Stocksbridge park Steel from a higher division 3-2 (crowd of 300) Witton Albion beat The City of bin dippers 3-2 (Crowd of 500) (If only those 2 and Vics joined forces for 1 good club for the town) Leek and Newcastle won their games, hard luck to Stafford Rangers and Kidsgrove Athletic who bow out. Whitchurch Alport ( cousindupree ) go again after conceding an 89th minute goal for a 1-1 draw

Cracking day out and a good win for the lads to get through. Long Eaton had the better of the first half but Castle fought well in the second half and were worth the win.

I always wonder why their crowds aren't higher, it's a great little set up and deserving of more than a couple of hundred fans......

Have to say I thought there would be more there yesterday with it being fa cup and us playing away. I think the attendance was around 125. Great day out though and will be doing it quite a few times this season 👍

I love Newcastle Town's ground - the velodrome track gives it character and it's amongst a lovely setting at the bottom of Lyme Valley. It's a real shame Stoke put a stop to those pre-season friendlies at Newcastle.

Yeah me too, I try and get down there once a season last season if I lived in that area I'd happily go 6/7 time season when Stoke weren't playing. Even if they based the women's team there and helped with the pitch/facilities it would be a boost for the club......

Didn’t realise they had fallen so far down the pyramid to be in the draw this early!

They’re probably the biggest team in terms of ground capacity to have visited Town in its history. Town got nearly 4k for the Notts County tie in the first round proper at the Vic back in ‘96, so hopefully they can get at least a grand for the Scunny tie. The Sentinel should be promoting this as well.

No, that is the week after. We're away at Oxford at 12.30 on the TV. So could still have a lot of Stokies there possibly.

I’ll be surprised if there’s more than 500 as said Newcastle do not have good support for a variety of reasons And I cannot see Scun bringing more than 100 tbh.For some reason the local sides attendances have dropped quite a bit from last season For example Leek who won their league are now getting attendances 300 less than last year.😳

It can’t be easy when you have two EFL clubs in the local area to compete against, but in Town’s case I’m not sure many in the area know they even exist. I know they run kid soccer schools which will help, but some signage or posters around the area would also raise awareness too, giving folk an alternative if they can’t make it to or afford a Stoke or Vale game. Certainly you get a more involving, community experience at a non-league game.

Certainly you get a more involving, community experience at a non-league game. Newcastle do actually promote themselves very well. They have a ladies side and many juinor connections. And a big plus is that they hold the vast majority of local non league cup finals .I think they held every local Sunday league cup final there last year since Port Vale (where many finals have been previously held increased their price so there are now no games played at Vale park to the disappointment of many players and junior football fans.) People who are active in sport have high regards for them ,but the locals are just not interested. leek do again promote themselves rather well but is only a very small town with a small population, with Macclesfield, Buxton and Matlock along with Stoke and Vale all close its tough. Kidsgrove, well they have lost all their investors and are in serious trouble finacially.

Newcastle Town were 1 up at half time, but conceded in the 87th minute, that would have been some upset if they had held out. Should be great for the players to go to Scunthorpe though.
Witton Albion won away 2-1, but 1874 Northwich lost away 3-0

Witton Albion won away 2-1, but 1874 Northwich lost away 3-0 Scunny started without 7 regulars. They later brought on their big guns when an upset looked on the cards. Newcastle were the better team in the first half and never gave up, but I guess scunny’s full time fitness (and substitutions) came into it in the later stages. Hats off to the Castle goalie who had the crowd on its feet with a remarkable save in the second half. 599 punters saw the action.

Indeed a trip to Glanford Park will be a helluva experience for the lads. Town haven’t played at a ground that has previously hosted Football League action since our 1st round game at The Vic vs Notts County 28 years ago. Let’s hope Scunny keep their big guns on the bench. ‘Castle should know what to expect now. It’s just whether their fitness levels can match their clear will to win.

3rd Qualifying Draw
Guiseley vs Newcastle Town or Scunthorpe United Stockton Town vs Chester Radcliffe vs Bury Southport vs Curzon Ashton Wythenshawe Town vs Farsley Celtic Darlington vs Gainsborough Trinity Newton Aycliffe or Warrington Rylands vs Dunston or Scarborough Athletic Spennymoor Town vs Chorley Macclesfield vs Witton Albion Buxton or Barwell vs Kidderminster Harriers Brentwood Town or Leiston vs Hornchurch Haringey Borough or Witham Town vs Lowestoft Town Shifnal Town or Redditch United vs Rugby Town or Hednesford Town Harborough Town vs Leamington Biggleswade Town vs Spalding United or Alfreton Town Royston Town vs Peterborough Sports Biggleswade vs Canvey Island St Ives Town vs Kettering Town Rushall Olympic vs Anstey Nomads Chelmsford City vs Bromsgrove Sporting Gorleston or Barking vs St Albans City Bishop's Stortford vs Hereford or Ilkeston Town Worksop Town vs King's Lynn Town Salisbury vs Bath City Cray Wanderers or Wingate & Finchley vs Hastings United Chertsey Town vs Ashford United Worthing vs Dartford Winchester City or Hungerford Town vs Weymouth Margate vs Horsham Tonbridge Angels vs Walton & Hersham Taunton Town vs Amersham Town Sittingbourne vs Plymouth Parkway Chatham Town vs Chichester City or Slough Town Bishop's Cleeve vs Chesham United Brackley Town vs Ramsgate Herne Bay vs Maidstone United Oxford City vs Gosport Borough or Gloucester City Carshalton Athletic vs Melksham Town or Banbury United Boreham Wood vs Larkhall Athletic Chippenham Town vs Weston Super Mare
I'm biased as it's a local fixture but Radcliffe v Bury is the stand out tie for me, tickets will be like gold dust and there will be plenty of needle as well, some of the fans of Bury moved to watch Radcliffe when they went under and haven't returned due to the situation behind the scenes still.......

Are Newcastle the lowest ranked team in the draw?
When you look at how many games clubs from their level have to play its something next to a miracle if they make it to the 3rd Round.
