Yep, my annual thread ... Believe it or not, the FA Cup starts this weekend with the extra preliminary round. Local and localish teams, which a few off here follow, are in action, Hanley, Kidsgrove, Newcastle, Stone, Congleton, 1874 Northwich, Northwich Victoria, Nantwich, Hednesford, Whitchurch and Prestwich www.thefa.com/competitions/thefacup/fixtures

Can't do the Stoke friendly or a local game as I'm away unfortunately but Congleton v Bury looks a good one.......

You'll probably be pleased to hear Witton Albion seem to be in dissaray, sacked their management team at the beginning of the week, lost 6-1 to 1874 Northwich on Tuesday evening, 5 players left and 9 days to go to the start of the season.

I believe Hanley have been selected by BBC as the team they will follow, putting them on live TV

Quite a few replays to get through this week, put potentially in the next round, the preliminary round, could see Hanley Town v Stafford Rangers (stoke away at Watford that day) www.thefa.com/competitions/thefacup/fixtures

Berkshire County went out to Clevedon 4-1. 16 year old grandson plays for them but unfortunately is away with the family. Absolutely gutted for him.

Annual post saying that the FA Cup deserves proper match threads, not one long megathread.

Hanley Town v Stafford Rangers it is then, on the 17th, should be a decent crowd in with Stoke being away at Watford.

I can't believe there are two teams from a town named Biggleswade, that I have never even heard of. It sounds like the kind of place that the Goodies would have lived in...

I know it with working down that way a lot, Biggleswade FC groundshare and play in Bedford. Biggleswade Town play in Biggleswade, I was looking for a match to go and see and the locals pre warned me. Boring information, but my daughter is at a wedding in Biggleswade next weekend.

Going to try to make it to the Newcastle Town game tomorrow night. I'm assuming they're just pay on the gate down there?

There actually 3 teams in Biggleswade. Biggleswade Town and Biggleswade United both play in Biggleswade. Biggleswade FC currently ground share with Beford Town. That's lot of football players in Biggleswade.

You fordot the mighty Whitchurch Alport Few clubs left from level 9 so credit to Alport. Tough draw next round home aginst Runcorn Linnets or Wythenshaw Town (both level 8 NPL West), but winnable and a win would be the furthest they have gone in the FA Cup. p.s. My annual moan about prize money at this stage....a paltry £2,250 for the winners. Overdue a redistribution of prize money to help clubs at this level.

I do like some of the non league club names, Leek have been drawn against a new one I've not heard of.
Leek Town v Ashby Ivanhoe

Good to see Newcastle Town and Witton Albion getting through their replays, commiserations to Maryland and his Northwich Vics who lost at home in their replay.

Went to Sheffield v Clitheroe last night. Really good cup tie, 3 goals in the first 10 minutes.
A closely contested game, but Sheffield ran out 3-2 winners and hung on to the end. Very enjoyable.
Excellent referee as well btw, he looked about 12 though! No diving, no playacting, both teams just got on with playing a very competitive game. Good stuff!
