He certainly isn't worth £10 million that's for sure. He has had one game when everything he hit went in, apart from that he has shown very little to get excited about. They signed him for £7m and he's not done anything since to make his fee go up. Football is fucked if a player can sit on his arse for 12 months, score 4 in one game on loan and have their value go up. Whilst you are correct in some respect. We saw in the summer how many clubs wanted Cannon on loan, mainly because there is a dearth of English based strikers with potential to do well in the Championship. If he helps get a club promoted to the Prem this season that 10 mil will be a snip. I personally dont think hes that great yet

He’s around for sure the Gallagher in jury has a big effect on Cannon no doubt Do we know if it was cramp in the last game or was it more serious? It was never ever going to be cramp

In his one game he scored more than Campbell in a season What exactly does 'football is fucked' mean ? One for the cliche thread

I think is a sweary version of that meaningless cliche, yep There are aspects that were better previously. All these transfer windows, VAR, international breaks every few weeks, a thousand subs etc. but for me football is way better to watch in the main than when I was growing up in the 80’s and 90’s

It was all brilliant

One for the cliche thread It means I enjoyed it more when nations didn't own football clubs and the life was squeezed out of it. Just an opinion. Happy to agree to disagree with anyone who loves it now.

I can agree with both sides of the argument

Bot sure was much life in football years back when grounds were half full Don't do all this everything was so much better stuff when of course it wasn't Football had no or little life the 80s and was in a bad way if you look back without the rose tinted specs. Was serious talk of the bottom 2 leagues going part time to survive. We were going 10-12 k at top flight games All that life squeezed out?

The life squeezed out is a comment on how dull optimised football is. Man City of course being the chief exponents as we can see by 5 titles in a row. No number of full stadiums can hide the fact that it's become a dull, predictable product. Happy for those that enjoy it.

We should try and buy him We need this type of player for a realistic chance to make the play offs Bringing in players to do this will be expensive Do we have an option to buy? If he wants to stay of course

If he wants to stay of course I agree ...think you really do have to spend some money on some key players to stand a chance of getting out of this league, it's not like spending 10 million on Sam Vokes, he's only 21 with bags of potential, we've been keeping our powder dry waiting to spend on a striker for ages, we could offer him a 4 year contract and spread the cost a bit

If those 5 titles were wrapped up by Easter you would have a point, but nearly every one has gone down to the wire. Top-flight football as a spectacle now is more entertaining than it has ever been. Its no longer the grass roots product it used to be, things have changed a lot but its still a cracking game to watch, in fact more so.

If he wants to stay of course he’s had one very good game , let’s wait and see how the rest of his loan pans out , and we certainly won’t be paying 10mil for one player

Absolutely Arsenal could have easily have won the last 2 titles. Wasn't so long back when it was just a case of hand it to Man U or Liverpool The great old days

We've had our share of hasty signings in the past which haven't eventually worked in our favour.

To consider Buying Cannon he needs to score 15+ goals this season, seeing he already has 4,anything less will be a dissapointment.

Its pretty simple circling in nthe bottom 6 and playing dor survival in January and hes off no matter what we can oir cnt do financially. Its why Gallagher injury is such awful timing as you can the anything but the bottom 6 without him for weeks on end.

Lots of clubs are sniffing around apparently. We have to keep him here. I agree 100%, sometimes you just need to pay the money... am sure there is room for some negotiations and add ons, and we can spread the costs with a decent length contract he's 21, not sure i follow that narrative that he's only proved himself in 1 game, half the Championship were after him in the summer and he's already proved he can bag goals in the Championship 8 goals in 21 apps for PNE, is 15+ a season form. If we lose him and Gallagher is still out or injury prone in January we are absolutely foooked...do we recall Mmaee (for all the good it would do) we'll get nothing of note from Tezgel or Ennis, we certainly aren't replacing Cannon for under 10 Million in the January window. In January window We need Cannon signed with obligation to buy in summer and a loan for a young wildcard Gallagher-esque understudy + ideally a left back and right back on loan
