Nobody probably but it means different things to different people. Long ball football A reliance on set pieces British based transfer policy A heavy reliance on attitude and character with new signings Low goalscoring All applicable (plus more) to that part of our history with some being quite positive and some being negative. The DNA is a mindset and attitude thing surely? Nothing at all to do with a style of play. Yeah I'd agree with that but everyone has a different opinion and will read it differently. All I'm saying is I don't think those comments have been too helpful in that regard.

I do want hard working never say die players..every fan should want those players for their club. You seem under the impression that hard working never say die players have no quality. I don’t think this specific one does have quality, no. You can have players with both like Junho. That’s the profile needed in my opinion. The real problem is nobody knows what the blueprint is or who controls it. JC employed Schu in December so you'd imagine their views aligned at that time. Then a couple of months or so later he employs JW as TD subsequently made permanent and rebranded as SD. Now has JW been employed to implement the blueprint of the shared vision of December or has he just been given the keys to the kingdom and allowed to set his own path. If it's the latter this raises the question of what is the point of the structure. You've moved from a God manager to a God SD. If it's the former he shouldn't be dictating the sort of player HE wants. He should be delivering the players to implement the blueprint laid out for him when he was appointed. No changes or signings haveyet been made that indicate he's trying to dictate a change in playing style on the HC but changes to the recruitment model do suggest he has free rein. I'm not comfortable with the idea of the latter as it's entirely what the modern structure is meant to have changed.

As an option I’ve got no problem with him.
If he’s going to be the main man we can forget the season before it’s even started.

The DNA is a mindset and attitude thing surely? Nothing at all to do with a style of play. Amazing how people don't understand this You can, and should, play attacking football on the deck AND get stuck and fight for each other As for reliance on character, yes fucking please No more Imbulas, Jeses, Berahinos thanks Million and Junho both are good examples of attacking players who have good strong characters Burger too very much the right DNA The Plymouth home game was a example of how bringing back the don't fuck with us attitude can go hand in glove with attacking attractive football The idea that percentage football defensive managers have the monopoly on teams with strong character is just nonsense look at Ipswich last season played pretty good stuff but imo Leeds had more quality in their squax6 Ipswich went up because they had the character whereas Leeds collapsed at crucial times

I don't think Huth's comments recently that were put down by the Sentinel have helped said thought process, when he said that now Walters is in post we can expect to see a return of the old Stoke DNA pretty quickly. Rightly or wrongly, when you read those comments it's not hard to see why some people will think like that. I haven’t seen these quotes, but who would object to a return of the “old Stoke DNA” ? Me. I want to see the best footballers we can afford not some social engineering experiment.

I think we have to try and separate DNA from style of play.
Hard work, graft, grit and determination to me are DNA. Bae and Manhoef fit this criteria, to now. And they’re about as good as you are going to get in terms of quality in the championship away from the relegated teams.
Long ball, big man upfront, bypass midfield etc… is a style of play thing rather than DNA.
Luckily, we have no visible sign that it’s the case that Schumacher wants to employ such a style, and as yet neither does JW. Gallagher, as a foil for a goal scorer is ideal, but as it stands, we don’t have a clinical goalscorer. And we cannot in an ideal world think of Gallagher as the answer to the goalscorer question.

As an option I’ve got no problem with him. If he’s going to be the main man we can forget the season before it’s even started. The striker we need is the version of Dwight Gayle from his WBA season 7 years back. Someone with movement, guile, and razor sharp finishing. Not some plodder who’ll jump and head the ball every now and again. Gallagher’s about as inspiring as bringing in Lambert as player manager! There must be someone in the Premier League reserves or from abroad that looks the part?!

So you basically just don’t want a CF never mind Gallagher because Gayle played off a CF that season and just about every other decent season he ever had.

Gayle was prolific Very few players hit 20 goals in this league.

Gone are the days of picking up a good Premier League player on the cheap who is just desperate to play more football in their prime.

Blackburn Rovers want £1.5 million for striker Sam Gallagher as Stoke City bid for a bargain. Rovers have the hit man under contract for another year and do not want to lose him just now with top scorer Sammie Szmodics close to leaving. Stoke have reached around £800,000 with their offers so far and Will have to come back with more. The Potters have alternative targets that include Leicester’s Tom Cannon who may be available on loan.

A bit underwhelming if this happens, I'd have much preferred a mobile CF who will hopefully bag 15 to 20, I think Stansfield would do that
Also with Dublin going, we now appear to be doing our shopping local again and going for the same players as half the league. If Blackburn are prepared to let him go for a million or so let's be honest, he can't be that great. He was a handful when we went there and he was a handful last season too at ours I thought almost dragging them back, so we will see

If they do sign Gallagher. Junho and Manhoeff both need to score 10+ goals each, playing off him as I think Gallagher has only managed double figures in a season once. Still think we need to be in the market for a striker that actually scores goals.

Would £1M + Baker be a possible deal? It was said they were interested in him? I guess Baker's wages aren't far from what Gallagher gets at Blackburn?

We need more goals in our main striker.

I've just browsed their forum to see if there was any clue as to the position he mainly plays, or if he's been used as a wide option more often than a few times here and there and christ, they really don't like him. It's hard to judge given they've got the likes of Brereton, Armstrong and Szmodics to compare him to/with which would probably skew any opinions on top of the sheer toxicity they've got towards the owners (which as we know always puts a downer on all things across the board). The general consensus amongst them is good athlete, dreadful footballer and that they might as well sign Lyndon Dykes (being linked as a replacement) as he's equally 'shite' but is probably way cheaper. Dykes is fucking woeful so that’s damning.
