Sometimes it's best to agree that you disagree lads! Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but let him sign first and then play some games before we judge him!

You’re right Rob, everyone is entitled to their own opinion but this guy takes negativity and self righteousness to the next level. That’s a pretty good effort around these parts.

Rumour has it Burnley would want a few million for McNally
Didnt convince enough for me to justify that

I think that he would be a really positive signing on a free transfer.
Very much proven himself at this level and also has Premier League experience.
I can see him being a great addition both on and off the pitch.

My reaction to Gibson isn’t negative it’s pretty neutral. My response to the Liam Cooper rumour that was negative.

I must say, I don’t have an encyclopedic knowledge of Championship players. I watch them when they play against us and forget about them immediately after. Teams with crap defences don’t do well just like teams with crap attacks. That’s just basic common sense. If he comes, great. If not, I will forget about him pretty much instantly. Neither do I by a long chalk. The numbers don’t lie when they were blaming our defence for our awful season they were talking shit. Now they don’t like it when someone is pointing out we’re rumoured to be signing two defenders from a team whose defence was worse than ours. I don’t think Gibson would be a disaster but he’s certainly not a clear improvement on McNally. Two alternative views, though. Firstly, McNally might not be available for us to have in the side next season. I've no idea if Burnley will want to play him or keep him around the squad now that they've been relegated. To be honest, I know very little of them, but I don't think it's too hard to imagine them wanting him in their squad. If they do, the only option is a permanent transfer, potentially for a big chunk of our budget. I didn't mind McNally, but I would probably look for value elsewhere. Secondly, I think we might be pursuing Gibson for more than just his defensive qualities. The data around him seem to indicate that, when at his best, he's a defender who is good in possession, carries the ball forwards and rarely makes mistakes. I would say that it's not a strength for any of the centre backs who played last season. Look at him in the season that Norwich won the league a few years back: 99th percentile for passes into the final third for a centre back (six per game!), 99th percentile for progressive passes, 77th and 78th percentiles for shot and goal creating actions, 99th percentile for progressive carries, 99th percentile for progressive carry difference. Not quite so good in the last couple of years, but my very limited understanding of Norwich suggests that it may be to do with style of play. Anyway, he may well be a player that enables us to play the sort of system that Schumacher favours, moreso than our other centre backs - so perhaps a shrewd move not only for defensive reasons?

Most people screaming as he is over 30 - absolute nonsense We were screaming out for some more older and experienced players last season Couple of points from me - 30 is hardly old, footballers play well into their 30s now And Real Madrid didn’t do too bad with players over 30 - considering if u read this board over 30s are not to be even looked at!! Honestly - this forum !!!!

We’re trying to build a cohesive Championship squad which we arguably haven’t had since relegation. Good signing for me towards achieving that aim.

If he signs we will be signing experience someone with the right mentality and someone who is a leader Something that has been missing from our squad for a while Something that Pulis required in most of his players Someone who is committed and can organise As it said in the new kit release it’s about DNA

Too early for Dixon, but what about the lad who was on loan at Walsall (Okagbue)? Is he someone we could use as that fourth choice? He'd be my pick as the 5th choice, or Matt Baker but not seen enough of him 4 senior CB's please Baker or Okagabue is enough for 4th choice.

I’m actually finding myself warming to Bayern after reading this guys pearls of wisdom. He makes Bayern look normal. Atleast with Bayern he will make the odd good point here and there. This Bacon guy talks utter nonsense in every post he makes. It's actually impressive how one man can produce so much shite. Odd? Have been asleep for the last 8 fucking years? 🤣 Seriously. I’d love to watch what some of you do and see this functional club that’s got its shit in order in this time period. Jokers 🤣

It’s a point of view. As you’ve had to admit after posting all those stats that he’s on a downward curve. I’d simply prefer we didn’t sign such players whatever their name. You either like it or you don’t. Imo it’s bitten us on the arse far more often than it’s come good not sure why we keep doing it over and over again.I really don’t think we need old heads, we have twenty somethings with more than enough experience.

If Gibson can play a big part in a play off team, then Shirley he is good enough to play for a club who hasn't finished in the top half of the championship for 5 seasons.
