I can see why he’s captain after that interview. That and the look of pure joy on his face celebrating the first goal Wednesday.

I think he's alright that one is. Hell, somebody's got to step up and do it. This isn't California where everybody gets a trophy just for participating.

How do we manage it:
Ashley Williams James Chester Phil Jagielka
And now Ben Gibson.
Will we ever sign a centre half over 30 who looks like they might be alright

Danny Batth was decent but most fans thought he was shit yet he’s still playing well elsewhere.

The only good centre halves we’ve had in this league are Souttar and Collins.
Jags was ok but nothing more. And that’s about the same for anyone else that may be a contender for not being shit. But I’m struggling to think of any.

I thought Danny was terrible at the time, but we were recently relegated and the bar was much higher. Nowadays, he’d be our best defender by a mile.

He’s only 31 but looks done. Is it an age thing? He obviously was a decent player. Certainly very poor for us

He looks slower than Jagielka, only he doesn't have a footballing brain.
I thought he'd be much better on the ball, he's been pretty much awful so far.

He’s not helped by having the worst central midfield (from a defensive point) in the league in front of him. All of our defenders get exposed too much as a result.

Can’t warm to him. Played well against Norwich the other week, but I don’t like captains that don’t do what they ask of others. He’s happy to dish out bollockings, despite being poor himself. That is not good captaincy. Lead by example in your performances and then you have the right to dish it out.
Fingers crossed he can find some form.

The fact he slid for that ball shows everything, wasn't even a 80/20 ball. His legs have gone and should be surplus to requirements

He has made Wilmot look better this season which just about says it all. When you dont notice Wilmots mistakes because Gibson is making them, then we have problems.
His passing as someone else said is also way worse than was expected. Scared of getting caught out for pace so is dropping too deep.
Looks angry most of the time as well - which is one form of captaincy I suppose when you have a bunch of kids playing in the team.

I couldn’t believe what I witnessed for their second goal, you see that kind of football on a park pitch most Sundays.
We have this lumbering oaf for another 2 1/2 seasons, crazy, crazy signing orchestrated by you know who.

There’s no doubt he’s had a few poor games of late but some of the reaction on here towards him is way OTT for me. For starters he’s the captain and Pelach’s trusted player on the pitch so I doubt very much we’ll see him dropped for league games anytime soon

Yep, 3 year contract on top wages, for a bloke who is nearly 32 and already declined to the point that he’s worse than Ben Wilmot. Contract handed to him by his old friend, who told us the reason the club keeps failing is that we always hamstring ourselves by giving out long contracts to poor players.

He was laughable on Saturday. We had 2 kick offs inside 15 mins, both were rolled back to him and he booted both straight into the stand.
And then the second goal.
