Ladies/gents does anybody know if Stockport will be pay on the day or will I need to get a ticket in advance? It's probably been mentioned on here already but to save me the trouble of trawling through the thread any help will be appreciated. Stockport County v Stoke City Edgeley Park (SK3 9DD) Saturday, July 27 (2pm kick-off) Tickets for Stoke City’s final away pre-season friendly against Stockport County at Edgeley Park will go on sale from 10am on Monday (July 8). The Potters travel to Greater Manchester on Saturday, July 27 (2pm kick-off). This fixture will be played over two 60-minute halves. City have received an initial allocation of 900 tickets in the Together Stand at Edgeley Park. Prices Adults - £10 Over 65s - £5 Under 18s - £5 Students - £5 PA/Carer - Free with age-appropriate ticket Disabled and wheelchair using supporters should call 0161 266 2700, using option 2, to purchase tickets. Tickets can be purchased online, from Monday, here. Please note, tickets are NOT on sale at the Stoke City Ticket Office I was on the 10.10 train from Piccadilly to Chester yesterday morning, didn't realise Stockport were playing at Chester with a 1.00 PM KO, a fair few on there heading to Chester, drinking and singing, you'd have thought they were heading to Wembley not a pre season friendly.

The Chester game this Thursday how strong do people reckon we'll go? 50/50 whether to as it's going to be a rush job from work and more of an incentive if the new boys are likely to play.
Looks like we've sold no more than 300/400 tickets so I'm wondering whether people are just assuming it's the youngsters and not bothering?

How many players have left? Is it 3 new players? How many more players will we get do you think? Four?

I'd assume we will play two different teams in the two halves? Will just be a first run out nothing too committed. Johannsson - Bonham Gooch - Junior Stevens - Bocat Rose - Dixon Wilmot - Gibson Baker - Thompson Laurent - Johnson Burger - Sidibe Ennis - Lowe Tezgel - Junho Manhoef - Leris Doubtless there'll be a few niggles so Vidigal, Jojic, McCarron (??) or Griffiths might also feature in there.

But don't blame me if it's Triallist central

Said this in the Chester Thread.
I don’t want to get too excited as we’ll play tougher games then this
But we look a bloody good side.
All too often we get told ‘pre season means nothing, all about fitness, results don’t matter’ and we come out supremely undercooked with some horrible performances in pre season.
This today, isn’t that.

This today, isn’t that. A good yardstick will be Bolton away, who have looked a very decent side at League One level. That will tell us how good our Pre Season has been to that point and how we are looking. After that it's the big kick off against Coventry then the other yardstick is the end of August and how we look after the first few games.

Results have always and will always mean fuck all in pre season.
However it’s always been a good time to get patterns of play worked on and settled and partnerships. It’s why I’ve always thought you should try and get as much business done early if you can. It just allows more time for players to gel.
Fitness also matters obviously.

Yeah and I have caveated by saying we’ll have tougher games than that for sure. But how many times have we looked shit and barely fit first game of the season? I think it needs to be recognised we seem in a good place, and you can only beat what’s infront of you. What surprised me the most is Baker breaking the lines and being up along side Ennis. He looks leaner, faster and more mobile.

The transfer window needs shifting so it ends much earlier for me. Very few deals get done early as everyone is waiting for everyone else to do business. If the window closed on the night before the first game of the season it would make so much more sense. Obviously deadline day signings wouldn't have a full pre-season but it would shift everything forward a bit.

It's the first time for a while that we almost have two players for each position. Obviously we would like to get rid of a few, but we should also bring in better replacements.

Schumacher has probably told him he could do so much more because he definitely has the ability, if we can get him playing like that and in good shooting areas regularly he's another player that could hit 10+ easily.

If Baker plays well then we don’t need to sign another central midfielder. And I’m not sure we could get anyone better than when Baker is at it. He’s just not at it often enough.

Baker is ideal for how Schumacher wants to play. He’s our biggest threat for shots from outside the box which seems to be a big thing for Schumacher.
