RIP Viv!!! 😔 My fondest memory of Viv heading in the opening goal of the season against Coventry on our return to Division 1, back in 1979/80 season!!! Nice sunny day and a 3-2 win for Stoke... Busby and Crooks (2) with the goals!!! Barry Powell got 2 back for them Think my second ever game Tom English had a great game for them Shoot did a two page pic spread on the game I remember that two page pic in shoot!!! 😁👍🏼 I always remember their left-back, Bobby McDonald, cuz he was the first ever sticker I put in my panini 78 sticker album!!! 😁

Was there for years..Shoot not , Drogheda ..that's still there 'City are back' was the headline

Yes mate I was thinking of that game as well followed by the defeat at Forest late on in the midweek and then Spurs at home the Saturday after winning 3-1 I think. Great memories and very sad news when I first read this thread RIP Viv That's right, Forest was a midweek game after the Cov game.... Didn't we lose that 1-0??? 🤔 I remember going down to the ground, before the players left for the game on coach.... I took my program down from the Cov game because it had a picture of the squad in it, and I was hoping to collect some autographs, which I did.... Then the last two to come out (together) were, Denis Smith & Sammy Irvine!!! I asked Denis for his autograph, which he happily signed, then I went to Irvine, and the twat brushed me off (not a euphemism), didn't like him after that!!!

RIP Viv. He lived a couple of houses away from us in Alton. He went off to play in the States for Tulsa Roughnecks and always brought us young 'uns a bunch of gear back (including a light pink Tulsa t-shirt that I still have in the loft). A real gent.

No way :-( Best known for his well groomed hair and night clubbing beard. You could have put his picture in any reputable male hairdressing salon. RIP Viv I was just thinking that when I read your post. Very sad news
