We still need two new starting CBs. That should be priority #1. Big Out and Out striker for me (if they still exist).

Before the season ended, we needed:
2 LBs, 2 CBs, A striker and a keeper as a minimum.
Nice to also get a CDM, a CAM and a couple of wingers/forwards. I personally would get Hoever if doable as well, allowing Gooch to cover as a winger.
We sorted the 2nd LB out with the extension of Enda We sorted the Keeper out with the signing of Johansson We sorted the CDM spot out with triggering the Thompson extension
Good early business but the CBs are absolutely vital as well as a striker.
A CDM for me is no longer required unless we sell Pearson. No point in having 3 with the other CMs more than capable of filling in.
I'd go for:
Hoever Cundle Coady Young quality CB on loan Young quality winger who can play both sides, on loan A young quality striker on loan (mainly because I dont think we would find what we need in our price range)

Cundle and Hoever we shoukd get like a shot. They are top end players at champ level and we know them. If they are available we should make sure we get them.
Then we still need 2 CH and a LB and a proper striker.
Coady cannot play in a 3 I don't think so woukd swerve that. Unless we go for a three at the back

Did you by any chance grow up watching John Ritchie? That is really out of date you are! Being six foot is useful but pace is far more important. Modern day strikers have an abundance of pace to run in behind defences.

I was always of the attitude re a target man however if you play a certain way pace is far more important for a number 9. It’s handy to have some strength but to be picked purely to win headers isn’t the way forwards. I’m sure CBs would much rather play a big bullying type than a Tierry Henry or Kun Aguero.

Any defenders would rather play against a slow target man than a quick nippy player who isn't going give them a seconds rest. Unless you can find a Haaland type who is both big and strong and rapid (those sort of strikers are impossibly rare)

We’ve had Hoever for 18 months and he’s been good for 2. We should not be signing him. We know he’s not good enough. Unless you let a few goals mask the issues with him. It’s madness.

Absolute nonsense. Relying on stats is why we signed so many duds last season. I’d argue it’s the other way round to be fair. Likely stats based signings: Burger Manhoef Mmae Leris Bae Jokic Vidigal Haks Junior As far as I can tell, the rest had all played for a premier league or championship team in recent seasons so were surely easily watched on video if they weren’t already known to the manager or Dublin. Haks was only on loan of course, but other than Jokic (19 year old gamble that doesn’t look to have paid off) are we really that upset if any of the above are in the match day squad at the start of next season? Maybe some people will be, but probably less so than with the Johnson’s and Pearson’s of this world….

You dont seem to notice that young players grow, get better, and managers realsie how to utilise them better. Last season and beginning of this I thought hoever was defensive liability, end of this season he wasn't. We would loaning/buying the player from the end of this season not the oen from the start of last, not something id choose to spend our money on, but not as batshit crazzy as you are tryign to make out. I'd prefer to develop Junior who is our player rather than Hoever who is Wolves, and I wouldn't want to spend what its goiong to take to buy Hoever, or pay his full wages. With 2 years left on Hoevers contract on over £30,000 pw I cant see a perm deal that would work for us. We’ve had Hoever for 18 months and he’s been good for 2. We should not be signing him. We know he’s not good enough. Unless you let a few goals mask the issues with him. It’s madness.

I wouldn’t be against the premier league’s favourite shithouse, Maupay.
Been there and done it in the championship, and is definitely technical enough to play the was Schumacher wants.
