If it’s not enough to take you down, it’s not a foul. It’s a contact sport. He decided he wanted to go down and took the cheater’s path. Didn’t get anything for it. Short pulling is a foul, but often isn't enough to bring a man down. The Southampton defender's leg stopped Campbell from scoring, because it took him off balance. That's a foul. It’s conjecture to say that it would have been enough. Campbell decided to throw himself to the ground and has since gone off injured. Shirt pulling is obvious but even then, there’s a degree of it that happens all over the penalty box and only some is considered “enough”. Using your logic, Campbell backed into their defender first. If he hadn’t of done that, the defender wouldn’t have been off balance and could have won the ball. Thus, it should have been a free kick. I’m so tired of people trying to justify outright cheating. It’s a cancer of this game. |
