Howard Kendall bosses the midfield. Mick Doyle gets a place surely.

Howard Kendall, Brian Talbot, both great driving Midfielders just what we could do with now.
Dave Watson was a beast of a centre back bossed the defence was as good as or better than the legend Dennis Smith

Players who were over 30 when they first signed for Stoke. Saw this on another board and it was much harder than I expected! Sorro Johnson Ab Faye Taggart Dorigo(!) Mikel(!) Delap Gleggy Wingie Beats Crouch If you think some of that is scraping the barrel have a look at the subs' bench: de Goey Jags Craddock Upson Matteo Sidwell Fletcher Vrancic I only did it from my time (late 80s ish). I'm sure there are a few upgrades from the 70s we could add in John Tudor would have just met (I think) your over 30 criteria

Would Danny Higginbotham second time round solve the left back issue? He must've been getting on when he signed in 2008 Think he was late 20s when he signed that second time? Just looked it up he didn't turn 30 until December 2008 but signed in August 2008

And I mentioned him on page 1 😂😂 You can mention John Tudor all you want, but he ain't getting in a 'best of' anything for Stoke. What an awful signing he was.

Kendall, Watson, Crossley and Taggart came to my mind first up. Hurst was very good too.

I would have put money on Roy Vernon and Eddie Clamp but have just checked after a few suggestions above proved to be younger than 30. Players aged prematurely in those days.

Brian Talbot was a cracking midfielder. Simon Stainrod was a cracking striker. Ten years before he signed for us. 🤣😂 Derek Statham, Johnny Gidman, Marco Gabbiadini, Paul Stewart, Mark Higgins. Jaysus we’ve got plenty of previous with this one…

Lawrence Fuller Delap all were pretty much on the scrap heap or close to it. What we would give for a few bargains like that now.

Some other random players I remembered last night/this morning. I think it's easier to make up a "Shit owd bugger XI" Steve Guppy Thordur Gudjonsson Ashley Williams Mark Williams (didn't he have a model girlfriend? Leilani I think her name was?) Lee Mills Birkir Kristinsson doesn't deserve to be lumped in with that lot, he was alright in the main. Didn't he chuck one in his own net at home to Northampton?

I think it's easier to make up a "Shit owd bugger XI" Steve Guppy Thordur Gudjonsson Ashley Williams Mark Williams (didn't he have a model girlfriend? Leilani I think her name was?) Lee Mills Birkir Kristinsson doesn't deserve to be lumped in with that lot, he was alright in the main. Didn't he chuck one in his own net at home to Northampton? He sat on the wall after the game for about 10 mins, head down. Don't think he'd conceded many at all up until then I remember Pboro fans mocking him the next week. Think we won there 0-4
