Stevens is going to have to try to stay fit for 8 games then isn't he. I will never ever get over the fact we didn't sign a left back in January. Not really. Thompson can play there and do just as bad a job defensively as Gooch has been doing recently. Burger is back on Monday nice and refreshed. Thompson slots into Pearson's position and again, not much difference there for one game tomorrow.

I honestly can't see us conceding less than 3 and goal difference is crucial.

4 or 6 points from these two Easter games would be a massive step towards safety.
2 or 3 points would still leave us wobbling (especially if the 3 points came at Hull).
2 points or less will leave us struggling to avoid the trapdoor.
I think we'll get 4 - preferably with a draw tomorrow and a win on Monday.

Who'd have thought having a left-back was a good idea? www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-enda-stevens-injury-9195692Head coach Steven Schumacher said: “It’s good to have him back, definitely. He’s an experienced player, he’s got loads of qualities. We see that in training all the time. Since we’ve come in he’s struggled with injuries but the lads tell me through the early part of the season he was excellent and played a huge part in success the team had early in the season. Having him back is a bonus.

That's my thinking matey and I would be happy with 4 points but as its Stoke we are talking about it wouldn't surprise me if we win tomorrow and lose at home on Monday. It would be typical Stoke.

We should play Wilmot as a DM especially with the absentees we have. Hopefully his defensive knowledge can help us win the ball in the middle of the park and get it moving forward quickly. I'm really dreading this game to be honest, Hull are very good and we need to find a way of tightening things up with some key players missing or we could be in for a hiding. I worry Stevens won't be anywhere near fit enough for a full 90 minutes so it's likely Thompson will be replacing him at some point.

It comes to something when you're genuinely fearing a game against Hull fucking City.It appears ive been deluded and in denial for quite a long time.

I fear for us tomorrow, they have the exact type of players we really struggle against. Ones with boots?

"Of late they’ve been playing two centre-forwards who drop really deep and two wide players who run in behind you... " S Huey's presser.
The ideal way to beat us, I'm sure it'll be three at the back and we're dragged all over the place! Still, stupidly, think we'll win! 😁

Sounds like Steven’s starts which presumably means a 4 only the truly deluded would have him as wing back

Sounds like Steven’s starts which presumably means a 4 only the truly deluded would have him as wing back He used to be an excellent wing back but yes that was then, back makes sense if he's playing He did have some decent games but he's been out for so long coming out from the cold will be challenging This is another reason why competitive mid week reserve team football needs to come back

I’d take a draw. Sadly that’s where we are now

Iverson
Wilmot NcNally Rose Hoever Laurent Thompson Stevens Manhoef Ennis JunHo
Personally I prefer 343 to 433 as the latter tends to force the wide front two wider leaving the central forward isolated. Playing wingbacks in the central 4 provides the width allowing the three forwards tuck in and support each other.
When he was fit Stevens did a decent job, defensively he's more switched on then anybody else in the squad and he can play both as a fullback and a wingback. If he is fit I'm really happy to see him in the starting 11.

I think he'll go 4-3-3 today:
Iversen
Hoever McNally Rose Stevens
Laurent Baker Thompson
Manhoef Mmaee Bae Jun-ho
The midfield 3 will be fairly defensive with Hull's pace and trickery out wide and up top so the likes of Manhoef will be vital in breaking and getting us up the pitch.
Similar to the Leeds game with and without the ball, Burger's energy will be a massive loss though..................
