We have become so bad a a very limited player would improve us. Just how far have we fallen? We are hovering above the relegation zone of the league below that limited player. The last time Brown played an actual season up front for us, he scored 13 goals. That’s more than all of our current attackers put together! Even after spending a good chunk of last season playing right wing back and being used off the bench, he still scored more than any of our current players.

He scored a few but I don't see him changing much if he was here, he's a worker yes but our problems are much worse than a lack of effort.

However, as you said, he scored a few and was a worker. That’s two things he has over almost every other single player in the squad. If we had a squad full of triers who scored a few, we’d be in the playoffs.

Can anyone honestly put hand on heart and say our forward line has looked better without him? No but I'm not sure you could say it's worse and we are £3 million better off. Just because the money wasn't spent wisely doesn't make the Brown deal a bad one. I can't see 7 goals over a season or one goal every 400 minutes(Brown's stats for last season) improving us drastically. Mmaee has scored a goal every 450 minutes so we'd get an extra goal every five games. It's not effort we lack it is scoring goals.

I don't think he'd take a move to a League 1 Club now. I thought he wasn't much above that standard when we had him before, except effort wise!

I liked him when he was here, did ok for us. But he was sold and the money was useful. Didn't ever imagine he would be a useful premiership player, and he probably will not be at the end of the season.
Would I have him back....No
Why is there this obsession with having people back ? Tony Pulis one day, Jacob Brown the next...
Who will be next discussion, maybe a would you have Carl Asaba back thread...

This is a rather pointless thread don't you think? The Oatcake has been littered with pointless threads for years though. I think looking at what Brown offered versus what we have now isn’t going to change anything admittedly, but it is a discussion nonetheless.

As I started this thread, I was only asking why he was not in the Luton team, like most threads on here it turns into something else. Was only asking.

Not too sure about play offs but definitely better off, unfortunately I don't think one player would be anywhere near enough.

I think it’s fair to say we would probably be a little higher in the league if he was still here. But he wouldn’t mask our utterly unbearable defensive frailties. We are awful at the back but I’m not convinced they are entirely to blame tbh
