The rather large manes would suggest that they're big boy lions. So the womens kit shouldn’t have lions with manes since they’re called the lionesses?🤔 There is definitely an argument that they could have a redrawn badge with three lionesses, yeah. Or not, because that would be more a mark as a sub-brand, not a corporate mark.

Regarding the red, dark red, purple, black George Cross, the more I look at it in detail, the more I like it. And I'm not being a contrarian before anyone moans about politics and patriotism.

Personally I think more effort should be made with the three lions. There’s no indication as to what the gender or sexuality of each lion is and the typical sexist, misogynistic white male football fan needs to be informed. The rather large manes would suggest that they're big boy lions. They may not identify as such though!

Those that bang on about woke this and woke that are the most permanently offended snowflakes you'll ever meet. They make it up as they go along..................... Interesting that the Peter Saville Associates designed England kit - that was worn prior to "woke" being a thing, let alone cannibalised and inverted by the mainstream press and political elite (i.e. The Tories and their friends) - that as one of the designers remarked "no one batted an eyelid." Doesn't stop todays anti-woke lot having hysterics about the red of the flag been given a spruce for a tiny detail on a football kit that will be replaced in under two years.

but surely they've got to admit they've made a balls up .
may as well have stuck the red cross flag on the shirt if they just wanted to create unity and inclusivity.

The response is just another example of the utterly dispiriting 'Culture Wars' designed to stir up nonsense. I don't see people up in arms about the adoption of purple for the change kit.

The George Cross was only added to the England football in the last few years. It's not as if its been used as anything other than decoration. But that's not the point, either have it or don't have it, I don't think anyone would mind either way, but don't fuck it up for the sake of it for whatever bollocks reason they came up with. They're two of the worst kits I can remember. The UK is too patient with such fuckery. There would be Nike stores getting torched in some countries if they tried such a thing. No US sports organisation would dare mess with the Stars & Stripes for example. All part of chipping away at any national identity. This is just Nike’s small part it is playing. I would rather a government sorts out its shit than comment on flags and other distractions.

Some might say, it's the first step along the woke pathway to having a rainbow cross replace the St Georges cross... don't just laugh it off its closer to happening than we imagine

Not if you use either of our definitions of the word woke is this wokery! Yes it is. Someone has quite unnecessarily brought up LGBTQ in the conversation. You could say it’s woke by both our definitions

This has happened on several occasions in the past and nobody cared. The colours of this design are nothing like a rainbow flag. This bullshit culture wars by knicker wetters. But why change the original!?

Nike claim that the new flag "unites and inspires".
Well that's a big fail for starters.
Anybody who buys that pile of shite has more money than sense anyway.

I would rather a government sorts out its shit than comment on flags and other distractions. It's a fucking tiny detail on a sport top. They've hardly set fire to it. As mentioned earlier in this thread, a few kits ago, the shoulders were covered in tiny St George crosses in different colours AND NOBODY CARED.

I have zero issue with the designs. However, the pricing is ridiculous and therefore should be boycotted to prove a point.
That's if you buy kits which I don't, of course.

This is a very interesting point. People would do well to think carefully about what has changed in our culture in the intervening years for people to get so triggered by something that has seemingly been done many times before. On the face of it it’s a trivial thing but the reaction signifies something. Why are people so uncomfortable with an expression of something they were perfectly fine with ten or 15 years ago? Believe it’s just right-wing cranks and opportunists whipping up division if you like. I’d suggest you’ve got your fingers in your ears.
