I still think that is poor positioning by the goal keeper and /or the wall.. Bakers pen was right in the top corner. Bacunas was not.. As I said before we have some clueless fans and with posts like that you fall right into that category. Also Baker scored a free kick and not a pen

Great positioning for that free kick..NOT ..Why leave a big gap that you cannot get to ? And people moan about Bonham. .. 🤬🤬 Watch it on TV then reply.. I said immediately on here that he was at fault for the free kick. A decent keeper saves that every day of the week. As a keeper myself I'd be disappointed to let that in. You knew as he was approaching the ball exactly where the ball was going. Piss poor. Soz Lev Yashin 😅 FFS it was an inch-perfect free kick. Whipped at pace, curling away from the keeper, right into top bins. He couldn’t have placed it more accurately if he’d put it there with his hand. But apparently that’s just a routine save now because people are all dirty guts about their pet klutz Bonham being on the bench

That free kick was put in virtually the exact same place as the goal which won Southampton the game at our place earlier in the season.
Remind me; did Travers get this shit and were people saying he was no better than Bonham?

It's staggering that we've never heard of his goalkeeping prowess before today.

I think half of our fans would be moaning if we had Inspector Gadget in goal.
He’s crap at diving!!!

At the game I called his poor positioning just as the free kick was hit. I too thought he was too far over but watching the replay changes that opinion. It was just a good free kick that no keeper is saving.
The issue for me was the build up to the free kick being awarded. We lost possession in our left wing slot and they ran right through our midfield unopposed.

I still think that is poor positioning by the goal keeper and /or the wall.. Bakers free kick was right in the top corner. Bacunas was not.. I've scrolled through it frame by frame and I think it goes between Mmaee and McNally - so not a case of the wall being in the wrong place? I could be wrong, it's difficult to judge on grainy footage.

I’ve continually banged the Bonham drum . He’s every bit as good as Travers and Iversen .

That was a very good free kick let's face it, although not as good as Baker's last week, no blame on the goalie with it at all. The thing for me with the Iverson situation and Travers, for that matter, is that unless there's a strong option to buy clause involved in a loan there's always potential for the loan period to simply be a sharpening up process for another team's player. Generally it's player who's been out of the frame at their parent Club, unless they're young and need development, and therefore lacking recent matchday experience. The Sarkic loan was more functional last season although unfortunately he was injured for the majority of it's term and then we couldn't, or didn't want to, make it permanent in the summer. We should've sorted the issue permanently then regardless of whether Bonham is in the frame or not. Any team needs two decent goal keepers on the books and we didn't secure a reliable situation. It was a mistake in my opinion not to do so.

As I said before we have some clueless fans and with posts like that you fall right into that category. Also Baker scored a free kick and not a pen That was a superb free kick and as a coach myself (and previously a keeper) his positioning and wall position was pretty much spot on. If a player gets the ball over the wall and back down on target (like bakers last week also) you've just got to say "fair play". Yes keepers can and will get to them but that makes it a superb save and not "poor keeping" when it goes in. The save in the first half that he "parried" I was right in line with and the movement on the ball was mental, he did what he could and got it out of danger. He hasn't done a huge amount wrong since he has come in, but I think that if he was obtainable, Travers would have been a better option but that is just a personal opinion of mine and I'm not for one minute saying that he is shit or that Bonham is better.

Bonham should never have been dropped. He made some blinding saves, and kept us in the game, in the 3 or 4 games before Iverson joined.
I dread overtime Iverson gets the ball on the ground. His distribution is terrible

In a Stoke shirt he's not been as good as Bonham this season. Shows how important playing regularly is.

At the time I thought it was a brilliant, perfectly positioned free-kick and having seen the replay it just confirms it.
To suggest that Iversen was at fault is quite ridiculous.

Bonham has proved he can be a good NO2 . Iversen has yet to prove hes a NO1. Hes rusty and his movment is slow. His position was good for the free kick but his takeoff was slow . To compare it to the Baker freekick is ridiculus that was as good as it gets.

For all those championing Bonham in favour over Iverson, which is frankly laughable, I’ve seen him concede at least 2 or 3 of these.

People were criticising and question Travers after 3/4 games, maybe more if we remember properly.
The short memories on here at times are pathetic.

Our home form remains a major concern for me

All I will say is that Bonham should consider himself very much in the picture to fight for the jersey. I don't have a scooby as to why he lost the shirt in the first place. I made the point iversen should fight for the shirt ahead of his first game and DaveF helpfully told me I should shut-up and suck it up. I guess that's what we are now doing.

That free kick has nothing to do with who is the better keeper between Bonham and Iversen. It was a fabulous free kick and pretty much like the one Baker scored.

Everyone involved at the club, including Bonham himself, knows he’s our #2 goalkeeper. That’s what he was signed as and that’s what he will remain - if something happens to Iverson then we’ll sign another #1 who will go straight into the team. He’s already played way more games than he ever would have expected to. Fight for the shirt indeed

And then the offside line is on the goal line and the attacking players can position themselves wherever they want. There’s a reason why teams don’t do that. Just appreciate a good free kick when you see one. Fair play. I didn’t say anything about the free kick. Of course it was a bloody good one. Thanks for explaining the offside rule…. I would prefer a man on the post to prevent what happened in this instance and get a second bite at defending/ clearing it. But they would put a man on the line as well and crowd the 6 yard box, good plan!

Looking at the first gol yesterday he is down wsy under the ball and makes the target much bigger his arrival has seen zero improvement in the keeper department another recruitment where we finishing up with no better at best often worse than we had. Simply can’t be allowed to continue
