In less diplomatic language than my reply above, me and the nipper were sitting three rows from the front, and witnessed Hoever have an absolute shocker. And my youngest (15), plays at a decent level, isn't one to shout at the pitch (like I did once or twice) but as the game wore on became more and more frustrated with what Hoever was doing wrong. Virtually every time he was involved in play basically. Unfortunately so mate. I've been a big Hoever fan, especially last year, not so much this. And definitely not of late. I was also impressed with McNally early doors as well and thought we'd got a gem. But both McNally and Hoever have gone to complete ratshit. I wonder if with the way Schumacher wants to play, with a more mobile and forward pressing midfield, the defence, but McNally and Hoever especially, are being exposed due to the lack of a Pearson shaped comfort blanket. I always commented how often Pearson popped up at right back/right centre back to cover for Hoever when he'd bombed forward. Now they haven't got that cover their positional sense and poor defensive abilities are being exposed. That can't be the entire problem obviously because on Saturday neither of them could pass wind which is nothing to do with their defensive capability. It could just be they know they're off it and are just trying too hard to force it instead of playing it simple. Bang on mate. The nipper commented/observed that Hoever is trying too hard and that McNally is playing like someone who in his mind is at least a Premier League squad player, and its getting in the way of him playing like he has to in the scenario/league that he finds himself in.

Need Guinea to get a draw against Senegal so Cameroon go out and we can get Tchamadeu back as soon as possible. With him and Gooch as our right back/ wing back options, including Leris at wingback if shit hits the fan, we can absolutely cancel his loan and free up a space we might need. Hoever is terrible and not only did he get beat every time he was 1v1, I honestly don’t remember a pass he made that wasn’t straight to a Birmingham player or straight out of play. Towards the end of his game before he was subbed I swear Cundle and Bae were ignoring his overlapping runs because there was no point giving the ball to him. I don’t think it’s as simple as just cancelling his loan. Both he and Wolves have to agree to it. We could of course make it clear that he’s unlikely to play once Juniors back so pointless sitting on our bench or not even in the squad (if we get another loan in). So it would make more sense for him to go back and find another loan. In reply to your comment about the game I’m amazed he came out for the second half. He’d been roasted by a 17 year old for 45 minutes and towards the end of the half he was limping exaggeratedly round with what looked like a ‘fuck up’ injury. His body language was screaming ‘take me off please’. I’m sure had Gooch not been coming back from an injury he’d have been on at half time. The second goal is on Hoever and to some degree Schumacher for not hooking him at half time. The thing that boils my piss about him is not that he’s ‘shit’, he’s not that bad, we’ve had way worse over the years, no it’s that he doesn’t appear to give a shit. Gooch is a much more limited player but will (or so it appears) run through a brick wall for his team mates. No of course cancelling it isn't straight forward but engineer a way to get him back to Wolves, most likely as you describe by making it clear he's 3rd choice at best. He isn't technically shit, never has been, but he's limited in his footballing intelligence and just seems to mess up the easy things, probably from lack of attention in those moments. Junior or Gooch would be by far and away better options for this reason, they will run through walls and do the grafting side as a minimum. Hoever did look like he'd packed it in after the second time the young lad beat him on Saturday. Absolutely he should have been gone at half time, both Gooch or Wilmot would be better options, as you say though, both are still recovering from injuries, maybe stick Leris back there too but it's another square peg whcih Schumacher may not have wanted.

Hoever is probably the most frustrating player in the squad. Obvious talent, loads of pace and eye for goal...but the attention span of a sick goldfish.
Casual, laid back...these words don't go near to describing his demeanour on the pitch...needs a cattle prob inserting somewhere at times

Gordon preferred to play on the right wing. actually other than a goalie … dad thought he was a centre forward ….. I was remembering him at a charity match he played in at The Red Cow not long after his accident. GORDON, GORDON ON THE WING...........

Gooch, Leris Don’t have to play him I’d play Leris there and Gooch in front of him to be honest. That side would have a decent work rate then and I think that the two of them could naturally compliment each other.

Once Junior is back, Hoever will probably be on the bench and is going to have to fight to get his place back. He’s a good option for us to have for certain games and when he’s on song he’s a very classy player.
He’s still relatively inexperienced in men’s football. Although he’s older than Junior he’s had less games at senior level - so while I get the frustration I also think we need to be patient. It seems the manager can see the ability he’s got (as have several others), so I hope we manage him through this very poor spell.
Out of the loan full backs we’ve had, the one I liked the most was Sterling, he was quality

Because I think this is a spell of poor form and he’ll come good. It also helps us build a reputation as a club that can help premier league players develop while on loan - which should see us get better players in future. Edit: please don’t reply. Can’t deal with you.

Shouldn’t play for us again once Junior is back and Gooch is fully fit.

If we do need to get rid of someone for a loan spot, I hope it’s Hoever. Junior is better (at least, he is for us). Then we have Gooch, Leris and Wilmot who can all at least fill in, as required (hopefully, not much).

They get praise when they score, otherwise they’re either completely anonymous, or in Hoever’s case an accident waiting to happen.

Seems like his attitude has been fine since he’s been here? I don't mean his attitude stinks, I mean he doesn't have the attitude to become the best he can be. Exactly the attitude needed to get the most of his obvious ability. Really is not something that can be taught. I have tried for years with the high school players I coach and it has literally never worked. You either have that internal drive or you don't. It can make an average player, very good and a very good player, great. However it can also make a very good player, very average, which is exactly what Hoover is.
