A centre forward who can lead the line on his own and score double figures between now and the end of the season That would be great but they are as rare as rocking horse shit. I can’t think of a single domestic based striker (in our price range) who fits that criteria who would be available. Obviously there might be someone abroad.

Another midfielder for me. Josh Laurent should not play for us again.

I’m split between a keeper & a CB….It would be good to re sign Travers without a doubt but if I was pushed I’d opt for a strong leader of a CB and as unlikely as it would be I’d love to see Harry Souttar marshalling the troops…..

CB. Could massively improve us, we're also one injury away from serious issues. (was gonna say GK but felt like being different) If Bonham gets injured and we don’t have another, we’ll probably be more screwed than anywhere else.

Keeper. Bonham's not let us down but we don't have cover and I don't think Bonham saves us many points. For all his good saves there are probably just as many mistakes. He's just an average keeper and I'm not convinced that the defence have confidence in Bonham as I'm not sure they know what he is going to do. I don't want a loan keeper though or we could end up in the same Travers situation.
Centre half is well enough covered when Wilmot is back.
Our forwards will score if we continue to play like last night. Or I should say our midfielders and forwards.

Has to be a keeper for me, although we are in need of a CB, LB, and a striker too.

Fair point, but don't we get an emergency loan in that case? My gut went GK but I think CB has an interesting case.

Definitely a goalkeeper. I thought our defence looked much calmer with Travers in goal compared to Bonham (although other than highlights, I haven't seen a game for a few weeks now).
A very good goalkeeper for this level could be the difference between a poor second half and good second half of the season, or to be optimistic, a good half and great half.

Travers has been on the bench for the last few games for Bournemouth so I don't think we stand much chance of getting him back to be honest.

My gut went GK but I think CB has an interesting case. Don't think so if either Fielding or Simkin are fit. Having played the other week when Fielding was injured and Bonham ill I think Simkin will be counted as a gk with first team experience. Unlike Bournemouth who could recall Travers because they only had one other fit gk, in the Championship you can only make an emergency loan if you have no fit gk's with first team experience so a gk is a must in January.

Not an easy choice. My initial response would be for a top goalkeeper, but Bonham has improved so much and is continuing to improve, so its less clear than it used to be.
This season he has the 9th best post shot expected goal versus goal difference of 1.3 (he's saved 1.3 more goals than you'd expect a keeper to make). As a reference Travers is 24th with -0.8 in during his time with us. Also Bonham is in the top quartile for stopping crosses 😮.
Its still a position Im mindful of, but with a manager using his players in the right way we are at least a top half team. If we can use this window to get in a long term first team option for any one of CB,LB or GK then we have had a good window.
I'm still going to go GK but only because I'm concerned the alternative options aren't good enough ever or right now.

I don’t see us signing a cf in Jan when we have mmae who’s good enough at the minute it’s gotta be a keeper we only have 1 an he’s ropey to say the least decent cb would improve us though

Read all and can't disagree, but a commanding CB is the most important. The lads at the back are OK, nothing more, but they need organising and leading. I would add that Bonham and especially Mae will improve under Stevie. GET US A LEADER!!!

I guess if Campbell goes in January, big if I know, his position is pretty much the role Whittaker plays.

Harry Kane
Scores goals, creates goals, a leader and plenty of experience.
At no point did the original poster say it had to be realistic.

After mmaees performance and 3 goals scored away from home, striker shouldn’t be the focus. Mmaee has potential to score and assist a bucket load with Schoeys attacking mindset.
We need a new left back, Steven’s is a walking hospital and having 0 cover is madness
