I thought we’d hit the bottom with Jones. O’Neill did a decent job in stabilising but we couldn’t push on.
I fear that Neil has taken us backwards again and that we’re on our way to eclipsing what Jones could manage. If we do go down I’m not convinced we’d get straight back up either.
I don’t know what the change is that’s going to be a quick fix to steady the ship. If we do implement a new club model I think it’ll take time to work because we just seem to be incredibly slow at making things happen. Granted we’ve acted relatively quick with Neil all things considered. Can the current bodies in the club deal with a structure change and thrive in a new model or is it another complete overhaul to set us up for the long term?
We are now becoming an even bigger project which comes with more risk. Things may have to get worse before they get better, which seems hard to believe.
Alternatively, new bloke comes in and just smashes it out of the park and we fly into the play offs sweeping all and sundry aside.

There is one other common factor - us lot. The fans are not to blame. No one expects success, no one thinks we are entitled to success, but we are entitled to see a well run club who make a tilt at promotion and win more than we lose. We are miles and miles away from that right now.

Definitely won't miss HIM just like Rowett and that Welsh idiot who wasn't TP!

It's almost laughable how poisoned a chalice the managerial position is at Stoke!
Lambert Rowett Jones O'Neill Neil
Five managers who achieved very little despite, in some cases, healthy reputations before they came to us. (I might spare Michael O'Neill a little as he, at least, stopped us from going down when that looked very likely).
With every passing failure it makes you realise what a good job Pulis did (and Hughes for a while). Pulis won more games than he lost as Stoke manager across his two spells. Given that five of those seasons were spent establishing Stoke as a PL club, that's quite an impressive record.

It wasn't the hardest decision in the world, admittedly, but finally the Board acts decisively.
Anyone else thinking they'd refrain from pulling the trigger until about a week before the closure of the transfer window next month...?!

Anyone else thinking they'd refrain from pulling the trigger until about a week before the closure of the transfer window next month...?! I was convinced he'd get the Swansea game. Neil has seemingly been courted long term by the club's hierarchy, and appears to have been given everything he wanted whilst he was here. They'd have been desperate for him to turn it around, so kudos for wielding the axe at the right time. I could hardly believe it when I saw he'd gone.
