John Coates yearly email reminder... "Time to piss bayern off again!" 😆 How much is he on £500/1000 a week? 😬 Too much. Luckily it’s not your money so dunna worry about it.

shouldn’t Simkin be 3rd choice now Sinkin may be third choice for games if he’s in the building. I’d rather him go out on loan and actually play. I believe it was a Lee Grant interview that spoke about the role of a third choice goalkeeper - they’re there to stand between the training posts and provide reasonable shot stopping. Doing this reduces the impact on your No1 and No2 as they don’t have to jump to the ground over and over. That’s basically it. It’s a support role so that your main keeper doesn’t get injured.

He was shit. He is shit. Just been reminded when there was loads of you as well calling for him over Iversen. That was hilarious. He’s a woeful keeper that has a weird cult following. That Fielding wasn’t deemed better than that clown is why I don’t think he’s of any use. I’ve been calling for us to sign Iversen for two years. I was delighted we signed and never once asked for Bonham to come back after Daniel’s dodgy start. I repeat, Bonham is perfectly fine for the role we need him for, which is second choice, emergency backup. He isn’t. He’s laughable.

Your saying Bonham nearly relegated us? He played his part in it. I’m trying to be as objective as possible here, and I can genuinely only recall Bonham making one costly error in that spell he had in the side when Travers was recalled, and that was when he failed to collect that cross late on against Swansea. I thought he generally kept very well during that time.

He must be laughing his head off. Played 3 game on football since 2019 and picking up a more than decent wage.

Prefer it if he was second choice here tbh. Did well against whoever he played against this season in that one game. And we can play him in the cups and control it. If we got him a loan and they had to play him then I’d favour that but if we can’t then I don’t think it helps whereas being on the bench, playing in the cups and 21s will do more for him. This news means that won’t happen and we’re stuck with fucking Bonham as the back up. But so far the loan route for Simkin has been indifferent. That said I think the FGR was just a bad pick from us. Mental club and manager at the time. We have to do better next time. Bonham is a perfectly adequate second choice keeper, as he has shown numerous times this season. Simkin remains a promising young kid who needs to play some football. This. There is absolutely no benefit in Simkin sitting on our bench waiting for Iverson (or whoever our new #1 might be) to get injured. He needs to be out there getting minutes under his belt.

What’s the point of him? Seriously? If he’s not good enough to be considered better than Bonham, why is he even here? The point of having a reserve keeper? Tricky one that Good job we've never had a goalkeeping injury crisis in recent years

Fielding is renowned as a good dressing room character and third choice keepers almost never play so he’s pretty much being kept on as an additional coach.
That’s absolutely fine by me.

That’s absolutely fine by me. - Get Iverson signed up as #1 - Bonham stays as second choice. - Fielding stays a third choice. - Simkin gets a full season out on loan (with a view to challenging for a first team spot in 12 months time). It all seems very sensible. We just need to avoid the mistake of our #1 being a loanee (to avoid another Travers situation). I cannot see newly promoted Leicester requiring Iverson anymore so hopefully we can get a deal done there.

Pep keeps 40+ Scott Carson around the club. If having a good character as third choice keeper works for him then it works for me. You don’t want a permanent third choice keeper who’s going to be banging on the door asking for games. It’s a unique role

I cannot see newly promoted Leicester requiring Iverson anymore so hopefully we can get a deal done there. It depends on whether they are restricted in the transfer market or if one or more of their current reseerve keeoers leave. Then Iverson, who did well for them in the pasr, could be needed.

Fair point. Equally, I am not sure that he would want to not be playing regular first team for another season. He is 26 after all. The other option is the Rotherham goalkeeper who has been heavily linked.
