I was once in the Gold Coast in Africa and a fella was cleaning the hotel toilets wearing a Rotherham shirt, obviously given to him by a former resident which he proudly told me was Manchester. I didn't have the heart to tell him Add African toilet cleaner dude to the list How long ago was this? It’s been called Ghana since 1957!! The region is still known as the Gold Coast by locals as is not just Ghana although where we were then Banjul . Was about 1989/1990. |

I've been to Ghana recently, nobody calls it Gold Coast since it became first British colonial country to get independence in 1957. I suggest you had no idea which country you were in. |

Is even a private plane company called Gold Coast Tours.. No one claimed Banjul isn't in The Gambia if you read it again ...says we were there THEN Banjul. . Sorry if confusing |
