As a hardened stoke supporter I’ve seen, like lots of you, shambolic performances, I lay the blame squarely on Neil’s shoulders, fuck this defensive midfielder off, I presume even mediocre defenders can pass the ball forward? Straight away this weakens our midfield which was none existent today, playing DJ as a wing back wtf is that about, he’s brought in a plethora of midfielders yet he doesn’t know his best formation!! Get it sorted Neil and stop making excuses ffs

McNally, Rose, Wilmot... I can't recall seeing such appalling defenders at Stoke. We'd do better recalling the two young defenders we've loaned out.
OS.

All three look clueless and weak, teams press us high and we have no answer, we press teams and we get played through almost at will😕

Just flicked through the game again and the defending for the goals is atrocious and Keith Andrews summed it up very well when he said I didn’t see one player on that pitch in a Stoke shirt take the game by the scruff of the neck and especially the period from 2-0 down until half time.On other words no leaders on the pitch at all

I only ever get to watch on TV or various streams, but to me it looked like today that we had way too many men in defensive positions, especially considering we're playing at home and should be going for it. With 3 at the back, and then a defensive midfielder on top, it was like having a over defensive back 4 that never got forward. Add to that the 2 wing backs and I counted like 6 guys in really defensive positions. You watch most other teams and it's just two cb's, at least when you're on the ball. When you lose it, sure have a dm and a wb come back, but the players had no options going forward when we'd win the ball.

We had no centre midfield at all. Neil needs go now. His players are shit.. Rowett and Jones repeat. Now we will get relegated by the time we sort a descent team out..

Laurent was totally useless , seemed a yard off the pace and unfit , DJ was played in completely wrong position , Berger was pedestrian , the passing woeful , Gooch and Hoever were ok once they had swapped around ,Campbell a bit hard to judge on the basis that his stint was short lived , thought Wesley was fighting a lost cause but did his best with little or no support . Was embarrassing to watch such a poor effort and Neil did nothing to change things when everyone else could see that it wasn't working. I got home and watched Newcastle later , what I wouldn't give to have 2 central defenders like theirs , ours aren't good enough but keep passing the ball in and around our own box and if there is one thing I know we aint never going to score if its in our half !!!!!!!!!.

Don’t mind Wilmot, bit inconsistent but decent. Why did we let Connor Taylor go and bring in Rose? If we’d persisted with him last season he would have been a better bet than that clown, and at least he had a physical presence about him. Neil doesn’t seem to know how to develop players. He’s signed a couple of younger ones now, and they’ll sit on the bench until he gets sacked I reckon

He was actually the worst of the 3 CH's for me and as the established one that is unacceptable IMO. He was skinned so many times it was embarassing, and to be outmuscled by Bidace??? Just cos he manages the odd cross-field pass when not under pressure he thinks he's a baller, most of his long range passes actually go to the opposition. They certainly did on Sunday.

None of those 3 CBs are used to playing on the outside. We should stick to 4 at the back at part of the natural formation.

Wilmot would be fine on the right side of a back three or back four, but to play him on the left side is feeding the likes of Bayernoatcake and making him a scapegoat for poor defensive displays. The other two are more of an issue imo. Like you say, back four with a couple of bona fide full backs, then you can play two in the cage (Pearson and Burger) with an AM (Bae or Johnson), two wide players (take your pick from Vidigal, Campbell, Leris, Haks etc) and a striker (limited options here but think Big Wes can lead a line with players buzzing around him, his hold up play is fine he just can’t finish his dinner)

Each to their own mate, I like Wilmot as a player. I think he needs to play in a 2, and ideally he needs someone who’s a bit of a leader next to him. I don’t think he’s benefiting from the constant chopping and changing at the back this season either. I’d like to see us pick 2 out of the 3 and keep the same system for a while and see how that works.
