Sammy McIlroy v west Ham 1982. He scored a brace in a 5-2 victory and I think we had a couple disallowed too.

Mentioned Gunnarsson on the Burger thread his one man defensive display in the 9 man Styles Gillingham play off defeat was possibly the best individual defensive display I've seen from a Stoke player Truely awesome Not far behind was Mame Diouf as emergency right back v Chelsea in League cup win, did we have 10 men in that one too? At the other end Chambo master class at Blues in 82 is often referred to with awe 40+ years later These performances stick in the memory Any others to bring up? One against us would be Hart in his breakout loan season for Birmingham at the Brit. It felt like nothing would go past him. Sodding miserable day that was.

Hoekstra, Huddy and Chambo already mentioned. Also Arnie v Man city scored 2 and hit the post. Not as good a player but for the occasion as well, Maguires 4 to keep us up(then he was released)

Peter Fox away at West Brom in the 89/90 season. We somehow came away with a 1-1 draw, but couldn’t really have complained if we had lost 6 or 7. Magnificent performance.

Walters perfect hat trick against QPR in 2015.
Also Begovic game winner and clean sheet against Southampton in 2013.

Arnie's performance on his return with West Ham was something special. Hated and admired him in equal measure that day.

I'm going to have to go with Imbula v Chelsea. I really thought we'd got a player to build the next ten years around.

Imbula away at Chelsea looked like an absolute world beater. Got an away game at tottenham in my head aswell, think Sorensen got injured in the warm up(?) so Simonsen had to step in last minute & played a blinder. The Simonson performance sprung to mind the moment I read the thread title. He was absolutely superb that day.

Don’t know why, and can’t even remember what he did. But I remember Diego arismendi having a cracking game away vs Valencia. Then never to be seen again!

Bit of an oddball this one but it always stuck in my mind.
Peter Beagrie away at Shrewsbury in the late 80's. He was kicked all over the place because they knew how dangerous he was and eventually went down injured. Millsy put the board up to sub him but Beagrie refused to come off and then tore them to pieces and set up Graham Shaw's winning goal.
Stoke's other scorer that day? A certain David Moyes own goal!

He didn't play very often for us and Pulis got rid when he came back after the Icelandic tenure but every performance he put in for that short spell of 18 appearances were class. 2 goals as well.
The name Pétur Marteinsson, a truly classy centre back.

Mikael Hansson had a blinder against Charlton in the league cup. Was consistently up against Chris Powell who I’m sure was in the running for the England squad. Ran him ragged when on the attack and also won a penalty.
Also Freezer’s debut - didn’t quite live up to expectations but the again there were high hopes for him.

I think Nicky Morgan was ready to come on wasn't he then Beagrie got up and carried on? May have been the day when was a stand up row between the turnstile operators the police. They'd locked the gates as the end was packed about 10 mins before kick off and the police wanted the overspill opening and they refused. The police ended up letting a few hundred in for free including ourselves .

Arnie that time at Upton Park, I think he'd had a couple of goals ruled out, he was absolutely determined to get a goal and get us a point that game.
