Just crossing the Belgian coast now over Oostende. Scheduled to arrive into Heathrow 16:40 where a PMT single decker is waiting to whisk him up to the Potteries. Nah it's a Becketts double decker bus with it's back platform almost touching the ground from years of overloading. |

Ha! You can't put in to words how cool Huddy was! I just wanted to be him! Two of the best wonderful moments football wise. Watching Matthews on his return to Stoke skinning a left back 25 years younger than him for pace and Hudson at the baseball ground gliding over the glutinous mud as if on a hover board whilst everyone else was literally stuck in the mud. ...and yes such a cool customer he was. I'm too young for Sir Stan but Hudson really was the King of the Kings Road! |

Don't forget John Mahoney adding the bite to the midfield. Possibly the best midfield in the country at the time. Hudson is still the best player I've seen live. John Mahoney ..... My ALL TIME favourite player! The Bloke who mopped up and did all the Dirty work which allowed the likes of Hudson/Salmons/Greenhoff etc to play in the manner in which they did. Unsung hero I remember when i was a kid me and one of my mates walking past his house on Boon Avenue and he was outside washing his car. I said "well played yesterday Mr Mahoney", and he said "thanks". I was made up lol |
