I remember the 90s, pretty much the only time when we were at a pretty low level coinciding with Vale being pretty at a higher level; and them for once being able to gloat about it. Find it baffling that people get so sensitive about it. Give and get; and all that.
Hands up, I don’t really care about Vale or any other clubs. Vale could get promoted or relegated and I’d be pretty unmoved, but accept it would be good for the city if they weren’t falling, it would also be fun to have some local games again too even though some would probably spoil it again 🙄

So are you saying that you don’t like The Vale then? Either that or he likes shoving his junk into a jar of bee love juice and having pain inflicted on his Johnson with a hawthorn bush Who doesn't?

It would be better for the city if they didn't exist. The city of stoke on trent would have more than 1 trophy to it's name with 1 club.
That being said, Vale fans are proper fans.

I don’t get the hate. Hope both potteries clubs do well, bring more money and a little prosperity to the area. Same for Crewe. They would rather stoke lose then vale win , they hate us with a passion. I hope we never play those bitter jealous rats ever again , long may they stink out the bottom of the football league.

Not this fucking bollocks again.
It's really, really simple - they hate us with a passion, get more satisfaction from Stoke's failure than their own club's success, and would happily see us go out of business.
Additionally, if we ever happen to be playing that tinpot, small-time bunch of fucking shitmunchers again then it means that (a) Stoke are at an extremely low ebb, and (B) those unflushable turds are punching well above their weight.
In short, fuck the fucking Vale.

Fuck the Vale. I hope they drop and drop and drop until they go out of business in the Ansells League. And then whatever they have left can be sold and the money given to all the local council tax payers they robbed during their various stints in administration.

Go on then I will play 46, Jack daniels, forklift licence. I’ve got more than that and my job entails telling people why their plans for a missile or parts of a nuclear reactor won’t work without me having a degree. I wouldn’t tell anyone fuck off up the vale. Wouldn’t want push their attendance into double figures if they followed through with it

Just for a bit of balance (apologies) I have a couple of work colleagues/friends who are Vale fans (both in their 30’s) and we have really good banter and have decent chats about each others teams. They’re as knowledgeable about Stoke as I am about Vale. I’m probably just a little young to remember the rivalry (43). I do remember them being in the same league in the 90’s but for me it’s just a bit of banter. I don’t hate Vale I just poke fun when they lose. It’s unhealthy to have such vitriol of a game

How old are you out of interest? Perhaps helps explain why you don’t get it Why does age matter? How old are you? I think you’re old, like some old guy in the corner of the bar rolling his own cigarettes with yellow fingers. Have family that are vale fans, actually nice people! Would a local derby actually not bring some excitement to the city or Huddersfield away is exciting enough? One of my best mates is a Vale fan. Makes no difference. Why any Stoke fan would want a return of the local derby is beyond me. Its a no win situation for us. We win, we are expected to win. We lose, we never hear the end of it. We even have to play them in a league game, and we are once again at our lowest ebb. And age is an important factor I'm 47 (never smoked though). Before 1989, my dad would watch the Vale and Crewe, despite being a Stoke fan so obviously I'd go along with him. Crewe would often play their games on a Friday night so as to get a bigger crowd with attending Stoke fans. All that changed. When we were at our absolute worst, they were at their best which meant that we played plenty of games against them. Phrases such as "pride of the potteries" and "10 years of continual success" were invented and all of a sudden, there was a rivalry where previously there had never been one. If you aren't old enough to have lived through that period of time, and all that went with it, it might explain you apparent desire to want all local clubs to do well. Whilst I wouldn't wish them out of business, the lower down the pyramid they are the absolute better for me and many others who lived through that period in the late 80's/early 90's.

What's going on at the old Vale? They opened the season by getting absolutely rinsed at Barnsley before briefly topping the table but now they seem to be in free fall. Looking at OVF the natives are restless and convinced they are headed for League 2 although they still have 33 points left to play for. It's a strange one, I'd like to see them go down, of course I would, except that they seem to thrive in League 2. It just seems to be a better fit for them somehow. Apparently there are two huge reasons they had two very successful loans who were withdrawn by their parent clubs in January. Having had the opportunity to watch Arblaster he looks some prospect. I noticed that he came on as a substitute when Sheff Utd were 6:0 down to Arsenal for the last 30 minutes so while he was on the pitch it was 0:0 Just noticed that he had a debut in the 2:2 draw with Bournemouth. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfie_Devineen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ollie_Arblaster

Used to love the Derby games.
Proper games, proper atmosphere.
Stein, Robin Van, Foley, Aspin, Gayle, Sandford, Bogie, Butler.
Great stuff.
As long as they are below us I wish them no harm at all.
I've got Vale connections through friends and family so maybe different for me.

Crewe stayed up whilst Vale came down so the following season Crewe were actually the top team in the Radio Stoke area. I remember driving back down the M6 listening to praise and grumble and the many calls from Rob the Crewe fan at uni in Wolverhampton telling us that Stoke were the past and Crewe were the future. I’ve hated Crewe ever since despite being completely ambivalent before, so well done Rob the student 👍 www.englishfootballstats.co.uk/League%20Tables/1999-00.htm

I tend to find it's not actually Port Vale I dislike, my mother was a Vale fan and I have several really good friends who are Vale fans, it tends to be the whoppers who genuinely believe beating Halifax town who are bottom of the fourth division makes them better than Stoke because we lost to premier league champions Chelsea in a close premier league game.

They really don’t bother me… a couple of the lads at work are vale, One who also goes to watch Stoke quite often. Half of my family & friends are vale fans too. They’re similar to Stoke with their away support, tend to take a good following & make some noise.
I don’t get a lot of banter off them tbf but when they do pipe up my reply is “forever in our shadow”. They have no come back.
I would like to see a potteries derby sooner rather than later but as others have said it’s a no win situation for us.
They’ll be in league 2 next season, gladly nowhere near us so I’m happy with that.
