I think the Preston midfield owned him. Along with any other players we put in the midfield.

He had a very good first half, lots of good forward balls which found there man, he did fade in the 2nd, but its his first championship game.

Faded in the 2nd half today. When he took Pearson off, Burger had to drop back and do more defending. It’s hard to carry Laurent on your back for 90mins too.

Struggled a little in the second half but he kept trying to be progressive. He’s the least of our worries. Only been here a week and has looked very decent overall.

He wasn’t awful. But it’s obvious we now have at least three better midfielders.

I quite liked the look of him.
At least he looked to play the ball forward and be positive (even if it did not always work out). Some decent work out of possession as well.
He is only 22. I think he has the potential to grow into a really dominant presence if given time.
However, if he is playing alongside Pearson then they will need a creative #10 working in front of them.

The only midfielder who wanted to take the ball and move it forward at pace

Some strange analysis. He did fade, but he was the only progressive midfielder we had today. He played a ball with the outside of his foot into the channel today that is way beyond any other midfielder we have.
No way is that the right blend in midfield though. Would love to see Burger and Pearson behind the new Korean lad (who looked bright ).

I expect more from Burger but when Laurent was as anonymous as he was today then it’s an uphill battle for anyone playing alongside him.

You're talking shit. Good first half, faded second half against an industrious, well-drilled outfit. Some people's expectations are horrendous. It's nice to have someone who will actually attempt passes other than sideways and backwards but in typical Stoke fashion, he'll be berated if they don't all come off. Want us to be more creative and unlock teams but want every pass to be played safe. People, as usual, going way over the top about the performance. It wasn't great but it wasn't as bad as some want to portray.

Whether that's down to tired legs, Prestons game plan, others around him, I'm not sure, but for sure he's a hell of a player, hopefully just an off day.

I think "shit" is extremely harsh though.

He was roughed up early doors and took a bad knock on the knee. He was poor though. Even though he tried to give them some back He never quite got control of his space.

Not Nzonzi like, he played it mostly forwards not sideways You got to be joking? Nzonzi was absolute class, just have a look at what he went on to after he left is. If Burger is as good as he was we have a star in the making on the books I’d imagine being on a par with N’Zonzi is in his wildest dreams. I don’t think we really realise how good some of those players we had in our premier league tenure really were.
