Feels like a root and branch reset
Hopefully we are trying adopt a style of play that goes through all of the youth setup
Looking to bring coaches in for each age group that are comfortable and happy playing a certain way.
Then hopefully recruit the right players for each age group. Then when the time comes, blooding these players into the next step should be easier

Until we have a proper director of football it's impossible to get excited about any changes like this, it'll be a pure lottery.

Until we have a proper director of football it's impossible to get excited about any changes like this, it'll be a pure lottery. It doesn't matter whether a "proper" DoF does the recruitment - all that matters is that the right people are brought in. The advantage of a "proper" DoF is that their decisions outlive the manager. The problem with our way of working is that when the manager goes the whole structure has to be rebuilt. That doesn't mean they won't make the right decisions and move us forward at least for a while. If we thought what we had was working we should have stuck with MoN - as soon as that decision was made this overhaul was inevitable.

By the time this latest version comes to fruition AN will be long gone, there will ne a new reset then, and somebody will be brought in to invent the wheel again. Hopefully it will be termed continuity.

The whole point is we need to be making decisions which would outlive a manager.

Stinks of the owners admitting well we’ve had a go, over to you guys. More scapegoats for a later day The owners have never really been hands on in terms of the day to day running of the club - they have always handed it over to the manager. Which is exactly how it should be - owners shouldn't be interfering with day to day operations and especially in football related matters. The issue is whether the strategic decisions should be made by a pretty much permenant DoF with the manager being a first team coach or our model where the manager is king. In both cases you don't want an interfering owner and it isn't something our owners have ever done.

The whole point is we need to be making decisions which would outlive a manager. Whether we should adopt a DoF is a separate issue. Rightly or wrongly we have the god manager model and there's no point complaining if they make changes - it's their job. Just because we don't have a DoF you can't just stop the manager making changes. It may mean another reset when Neil goes but he can't just be constrained to tinkering round the edges - that will get us nowhere. If you'd rather have continuity we should either have stuck with MoN or brought in a manager who would build on what MoN had done. We chose not to do that so it's futile complaining about the inevitable churn - given our operating model and who we brought in it was bound to happen. We either get rid now or give him his head and clearly the owners have already made that decision.
