Alan Nixon
Stoke plan to buy Palace midfielder Killian Phillips, 21, after he impressed for neighbours Shrewsbury.
Alex Neil is keen on the industrious prospect and wants to sign him permanently following a good loan spell with Shrews in League One.
Coventry and Luton like Phillips too but are more interested in loan arrangements.

I must admit I've never heard of him!
Quick wiki search, an Irish lad born in San Diego, zero games for Palace and 20 odd games for Shrewsbury.
I suppose he would be another warm body to throw in to the fray but not a cream your pants signing.

Kill Ian Phillips? What has Ian Phillips done wrong?
Hmm, a 6 foot 3 attacking midfielder described as 'industrious'. You can see the appeal.

Josh Laurent was well loved by Shrewsbury.
Has nothing to do with Killian Phillips.
Josh Laurents middle name is also Jacob-Heron which is a new one to me.
Again, nothing to do with Killian Phillips.
However, I had a fantastic breakfast burrito in San Diego - honestly rivalled a cheese & bacon oatcake. Killian Phillips may well know the secret to a great breakfast burrito. Sign him up.

Sounds like my LHS report card. “Industrious, but never going to amount to much.”

Could be the new Ben Pearson. He was 21 and had no appearances for Man Utd, with only a season on loan at Barnsley when he rocked up at Preston...

Great find (as always) They seem to really rate him and sounds like he made a real impact in the short time he was there. If the transfer team can unearth some hidden gems with the right mentality (love the “run through a brick wall” comment) then the “exciting summer” might well see us at least competitive going into next season.

Considering he’s a No 10, he wasn’t exactly prolific making chances for teammates or setting up opportunities from layoffs or through balls. I’d prefer even Daniel Johnson personally.

Definitely sounds like a Neil type midfielder from those comments but anyone's guess how much Palace will want, that's if they are willing to sell him.
They do have a very good youth setup so I suppose it depends how high he ranks in the pecking order.

Where does it say he's a No 10? I can only see one comment that says he's not creative enough to be a 10 which in an AN team isn't really a problem because he doesn't really use one. Smallbone was described as a 10 but he was more an 8 and a bit and the same with Johnson from what I can see. No reason we can't get Johnson and this lad for competition for the 8+ position.

Looking at the way Quiterill set up his Shrews teams, Killian seemed to play in the pocket behind the front two, which suggests he is a 10. I thought Smallbone was positioned as the 10 as well, albeit with more attacking impetus. Even Will was creative though, and you have to be really in that position. Just not sure what Killian brings to the table.

He says he sees himself as box-to-box www.shrewsburytown.com/news/2023/january/first-interview--killian-phillips/"I’m a box-to-box midfielder and I always give 100 per cent. This year I have managed to nick a few goals so hopefully I can do that here at Shrewsbury. "I play with a lot of energy so I do tend to find myself in both boxes. "I don’t have a preferred position. I have played attacking midfield all this season for Palace. The under-23s manager Paddy McCarthy has taught me that position really well. "I enjoy playing as a number 10 and playing off a striker – but probably box-to-box is my favourite role. And I don’t mind playing as a holder, I played as a holder for Drogheda so I don’t mind that either."

At least he looks like what the manager wants which is a definite step in the right direction. Whether he's any good is a completely different matter.

We love a box to boxer don’t we.
My cynicism aside he sounds decent but will be interesting to see where we slot him in.

Wasn't so fond of Tijuana just over the border. Walked all the way down the end of the main street and it was suddenly very different. A man walked up to us and said just 3 words "Live Donkey Show?" which was our cue to turn around and go back to the USA.

www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/stoke-city-transfer-killian-phillips-8408030?333Republic of Ireland junior is being linked with Stoke after an eye-catching half-season under Steve Cotterill, named Shrewsbury's young player of the year as he helped them to their best finish in six seasons.
Cotterill, who has called him 'immense', had wanted him last summer but then Palace manager Patrick Vieira chose to keep him close at hand.
“The best part of Killian Phillips is what he is as a lad, that is the best part of him," said the Shrewsbury boss. "There is going to be a lot of good footballers out there and a lot of good athletes it is if you can marry that up with being a good person about it as well."
He added: “He is a big, strong boy. He’s 6ft 3in, can nick a goal, he’s very good in both boxes and a really good athlete as well – he's a strong runner. Because of his size, he’s not necessarily going to be a sprinter – but he’s a strong runner and a really, really, good lad... he's aggressive."

Is it likely that Palace will want to sell? They brought him in January 2022 and sent him out for a half season loan, which he’s seemingly excelled in.

Be amazed if this happens, more chance of a season loan than signing him permanently.. Also, he a massive Palace supporter who dreams of playing for them..!! 😂
