I like Fenners but he’s the one good thing about it for me.
It went on a slide after the brilliant Helen and Tim left.
They were better times then where people weren’t afraid of having a laugh and cracking a joke without worrying about losing their job.

You could see they weren’t happy hahaha. Who fucking cares, have a laugh. Just because someone doesn’t find something funny or it offends them, doesn’t make it wrong. That’s just their opinion.

I don't think it's this so much as lots of the jokes Soccer AM got big telling just aren't so funny to as many people as they were. As an example, the girls coming on and all the 'great age'/catwalk/lads humour jokes are just a bit cringey nowadays at best. Humour changes, Soccer AM is dying because it's not funny anymore and people on YouTube etc can make better football humour content, not because of any 'better times' or anything.

I think part of it is that they’re trying to make it so that it reaches everyone whereas before it was predominantly for your old school footy fan.

Maybe, but I also don't think many of those old school footy fans even find it that funny anymore. I bet if people watch the old episodes back they'll mostly cringe or at best, half-laugh at stuff. If enough people were finding it funny and watching it, it wouldn't have changed and would still be on air.

YouTubers definitely don’t create better football content.
Just a load of priveleged middle class media graduates, mainly from down south who aren’t funny and have little knowledge of football beyond the big clubs or the last 10 years.
Soccer AM has had its day but only because it wasn’t allowed to be edgy anymore.
I’m not saying bring the catwalk back etc but they could allow it to still be funny in new ways but sky are far too concerned about offending a few over entertaining the many.
Saturday social is the worst show I’ve ever seen.

Great shame. What will they replace it with?

Great shame. What will they replace it with? I bet it'll be something to do with that Soccer Social thing they do, or something similar. I think Sky will see the target audience now as those who watch a lot of YouTube personalities. Podcasters, FIFA players etc... It would be a shame IMO, but I think Soccer AM was already heading in that direction.

There’s always a place in my heart for light entertainment footy on the box having grown up with Saint and Greavsie, Baddiel and Skinner and Tim and Helen.

Great shame. What will they replace it with? Went out with a wimper. As others have said it was much watch in its heyday. Decent words from Fenners at the end especially about Helen she was a superb host. Hardly see her on TV anymore, media outlets are missing a trick not using her instead of the countless bland no marks on our screens

I've always quite liked it in all honesty. Unlike other programmes where no division bar the premier league exists its quite funny, plays good music, has some decent guests and I love the shoot outs with Jimmy etc
The trouble is it will probably be replaced by some premier league show hosted by Karen Carney
I watch it on my phone on away days on the coach. For me it will be missed but probably has run its cause
