It is Farage’s dream come true. He becomes relevant in the media for a day or two, not because of his politics or messaging or a speech he has made, but because he got cancelled. Do you agree with him getting cancelled then?

bbc.com/news/uk-politics-65675247"The check on your social media has identified material that criticises government officials and policy. It is for this reason and not because we do not value your technical insight, that I'm afraid that we have no choice and must cancel your invitation to the CWD conference." Mr Kaszeta stressed he was never going to speak about policy matters at the event.

What is the link you're making between the two videos BJR? Cancel Culture / Freedom of Speech Yes, I see now, I was probably thinking about it too deeply and trying to establish a link between Belgium and Germany. Quite agree though. 🫡

It's a tricky one because Germany do good quality asphalt and roads, whereas Belgium has a fully lit motorway. I think I'd swing in favour of Belgium in this instance just to get some decent lighting there. It looks quite woody so could help the wildlife.

Seems that Nigel and Co. won the battle in the end. Maybe foster can confirm the details but from what I can understand the situation went before a Belgian judge this morning who determined that the banning of the Conference was unlawful. The Belgian P.M. has since said "banning political meetings is unconstitutional". I think basically they're saying that the lefty Brussels mayor was just being a jumped up little shit and trying to flex his muscles. Sounds similar to Sadiq Khan doesn't it. Anyway the Conference went ahead today.

Anyway the Conference went ahead today. Des I posted this earlier, which backs up what you say ........ The move has been criticised by Belgium's Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, who described the police's intervention as "unacceptable." "Municipal autonomy is a cornerstone of our democracy but can never overrule the Belgian constitution guaranteeing the freedom of speech and peaceful assembly since 1830," "Banning political meetings is unconstitutional, full stop," the Prime Minister added. Mayor Kir represented Belgium's Socialist Party (PS) before he was expelled in 2020 following a controversial meeting with a delegation of Turkish mayors which included representatives from the ultra-nationalist, far-right MHP party. Belgian Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Tom Vandendriessche - who was due to take part in the NatCon conference and represents the far-right, Flemish nationalist Vlaams Belang party - said he was unsurprised by the Belgian authorities' attempt to disperse the gathering. "Since the left is a minority in Flanders, everywhere they have power (in Belgium), they try to use their power to intimidate the right," Vandendriessche said "We have seen this over decades happening here in Belgium," he added. www.euronews.com/my-europe/2024/04/16/brussels-police-shuts-down-orban-and-farages-far-right-gathering

So the question arises, who makes the laws and who interprets them. Some on the Left and Right are probably equally guilty given the chance. It even happens in panel shows, talking over each other, shouting down. Tony Benn was absolutely brilliant at letting a person finish what they had to say.

No, because it made a completely irrelevant event full of some of the most hideous people in politics relevant for five minutes. Who are these hideous people. Why in your opinion are they hideous. Simply because they have a different point of view. Orban, the Putin sympathiser who has tried his best to destroy the rule of law in Hungary Farage who has lied, lied and lied again to fool people to vote to leave the EU. His lies now exposed, this unelectable man just fills his pockets with speaking events intentionally being controversial to turn people against one another. Suella Braverman described pro-Palestinian protesters as "hate marchers", said living in a tent as a homeless person is a lifestyle choice, she broke the ministerial code on multiple occasions. Do you want me to go on?

Hardly a rabid left dog. Also, I won’t be voting for Starmer/Labour. So I am not supporting either of them.

This is a truly brilliant and extremely well written response to Braverman's speech in Belgium.
Although he could have saved himself an awful lot of time and simply called her a fascist ...

Whilst it's hinted at, direct comparison with 1930's Germany is stopped short of. Probably worried they'd get the same treatment Gary Linkdinkle got 😀 Events since would seem to endorse the view he held..
